I plan to start classes at Roadmaster of Jacksonville, FL within the next couple weeks. I have spoken with the recruiter at the school, and tried to ask as many questions of him I could think of concerning the school's training and employment prospects afterward. However, he is a recruiter, paid by the company to give the answers they want you to hear.
What I am interested in knowing, preferably from others who have dealt with this particular branch of Roadmaster:
1. I was told certain companies recruit from within the school, and many of them have not necessarily received glowing reviews from current and former employees. Does the school itself try to steer or pressure its students towards accepting employment with certain companies, or do they assist and support you in making an employment decision on your own?
2. Is it more difficult to get a starting job with a company that is not directly affiliated with Roadmaster?
3. The recruiter told me that it would be possible to get a regional, or in some cases a local route straight out of school. Are these routes readily available, or are they few and far between, or is the company blowing smoke up my ### altogether? I'm prepared to go OTR if I absolutely have to, but the main reason I am paying my own way through school rather than doing company training is so I have more choice in my employment.
4. Once you finished Roadmaster's training program, did you feel as if you were adequately prepared to drive, or did you find the training to be lacking?
Thanks for all your help.
Any experience with Roadmaster Jacksonville?
