I have the option to pull one of these trailers.
I only see the upside of not having to tarp.
Any chance of getting van freight?
The only downside that I can see is not getting any oversize loads.

YUP! No Ols. We use dto haul 65 ft beams and 57 ft aluminum extrusions for Boeing. Paid well, weight wass around 13K and it looked like a big load. Could stand a Schneider on end about halfway up a mtn in WY when we blew past. Saw a lot of guys who love them and if it pays good go for it.

Actually there are shippers that will not load conestoga trailers including the Military. This is because they are easy to damage and the shippers don't want to take the extra care or responsibility.
Also there is the extra weight gain. I've been told extra 2000 lbs.
During the winter time, it's quite the time saver, like with the steel coils.MackDaddyMark Thanks this. -
They catch more wind , so you won't get the same fuel mileage, especially if you do alot of empty running.

the only downside i can see about a conestoga is the fast that im not pulling one lol i would give anything to give up tarping and drag a conestoga around

Drawbacks,
Nothing hung over the front because of the bulkhead
Weight, about 1500 pounds
no oversize, unless you get the run open option.
On a flat bed, no containers, too high
Some shippers will not load, regardless
Hard on fuel economy
I thought seriously about one. Even had it speced out, but I do too much general freight. -
Is there one that can be run in an open position?
