Any companies that are hiring local with no experience in PA-NJ?

I am in Trenton and when I had no experience I have been looking for local job 1 year. When I was ready to go regional, then I found local job available and no experience needed. I am still working there at Schneider, its really good company to start, but thats all. Also check upsjobs.com they are hiring in my area for ups freight

 

I'll tell you what if I were you I would call ABF Freight and whatever other LTL companies there are in this area.

I know that ABF is Union and you would get full union benefits and I believe you may have to work on the dock a little bit but they even have their own Driving School from what I understand.

Someone else may know who the other union jobs are the LTL jobs around Philly I'm not sure but like I said I know they hire people and even teach them how to drive so don't mess around with the junkie crap. Find yourself a good union job and you'll have benefits and everything else right off the bat.

Hey guys. I appreciate the wealth of info you guys are always willing to share over the years.

I thought I'd post in this thread since my question is identical to the Op's, the only difference being he/she is close to south Jersey, while I'm up in northern Jersey - the Newark, NJ area to be exact.

Other than getting my CDL A this past February, with Doubles n Triples, Tankers and Hazmat Endorsements, I have no driving experience. Definitely wet behind the ears.

I would appreciate any suggestions about decent companies that hire inexperienced drivers. I would prefer to be home every night, but I'm also a realist, so being home every week is 2nd on the wish list. Barring that, I'll go with a regional, or OTR.

Just turned 50, with a family, but having discussed with the better half, we're willing to make the sacrifice to get that first year experience.

The bottom line is, I am hoping to get on with a company that pays decent (even for rookies, if that is even possible!), safe, and professionally run....or something close.

FFE is in Burlington, about an hour from Newark. They hire newbies and the pay starts out at $0.50 per mile. If you work local, they pay by the hour.

Great money with their line haul positions.

 

Right, @Jenn72 recommends FFE which has an excellent reputation and a terminal in Burlington.

 

This one in Mercerville has their own cdl school, but sometimes hire graduates from other schools. Try anyway, this can be one of the $90K + jobs. Might be owned by Yellow Corp.
