I'm going to ask this here in the owner-operator forum and see what happens. Does any of the class 8 truck manufacturers offer on "on-star" type system or is there perhaps an aftermarket system? I'm more particularly interested in knowing if there are fuel theft alarms and vehicle break-in alarms specifically for trucks. The system I would like to see would utilize an on board, programmable cellular phone to dial a number with an appropriate message and/or text message in the event of a break-in or fuel theft. They would essentially operate like modern home security systems however the fuel theft alarm would probably need to be incorporated at the factory build level to keep the fuel gauge system always energized and operational, regardless of key state or engine state.
Also, have you seen any o-o level trucks that offer lock remotes like you see on virtually all newer cars and pickups?
Does any heavy truck manufacturer offer a "basic" alarm system like we see with typical cars and pickups? ... from the factory or aftermarket
Thanks
Any Anti-Theft/Break In Alarm Systems for Class 8 Trucks?

Sure they do just google it. I watched I forget the show? Trick this truck? They installed an alarm system with an invisible laser or such on the steps. It also had where you could record the alarm. They used a barking dog. It was pretty cool. They have ignition interlock ones too.

You can customize one at www.Viper.com like glass break, motion sensor, field disturbance sensor, programmable voice.... I think that was the one on that show. Not only the alarm it can cut power to the ECM or ignition. -
It doesn't make sense why a decent alarm system with cellular paging component isn't offered from the Paccar or others. Truck manufacturers are always the last to incorporate high-tech and/or other sensible options. A fuel theft sentry one would think would have been offered many years ago from the manufacturer when fuel went well over $3.00/gal and fuel theft became common-place. I don't put much stock in "locking fuel caps", and the idea many can't park their rig in their driveway makes cellular link technology would be assumed in any alarm system.

I bob tailed to an alarm business years ago n put one on my truck,if you stepped on side of my truck it would sound the alarm. Just bought this truck and haven't had a chance to get one on this one yet,but I agree they should come equipped from the dealer, geez the value of the truck alone without the load is alot more than a 4wheeler!

Thing with motion sensors I had a customize van with high dollar electronics had a viper alarm I could leave the windows down and if you stick your arm in it would go off. Down side wind woiuld set it off

I wouldn't want a movement sensor due to wind situations. A simple system that activates when a door is opened (light comes on) and maybe some sort of "tamper vibration" detection. (detects tampering with fuel caps or removing side panels or load locks) But that would probably false every time a heavy truck rolled 9bounced) by or somebody slammed a door adjacent.

I have their system on my 03 t600 since 04, still works, never had any problems, also don't know if anyone was trying to still my rig -
If you go with something like VIper, or another car type alarm, always have them replace the wiring with something heavier than the 20 gauge wire that comes with the kit.
