I have been trying to find a way to bypass the anti-Idle shutdown on my 2014 ProStar+ without luck. I have tried everything without luck. I finally found the answer, at least on my truck.
Shutdown, enable autostart. Start engine leaving autostart on. Autostart will click and flash for about five minutes, then disengage itself, leaving the engine running. Hope this helps someone out there.

Turn on your CC or don't set your tractor parking brake provided you aren't on a hill.

Why do you need to idle the truck?
Heat? Cooling? Power for toys?
I'm just curious. You see so many people idling for no reason.
The auto start/stop on the 2014 prostars is one of the few things I like, but I have an diesel fired bunk heater. -
Even though I have an apu and a bunk heater, I have never had to idle my truck as much as I have this winter. I have a Cascadia and during the Polar Vortex made the mistake of leaving the truck off for too long. It took a day and a half before the truck ran again. The cold has actually been more than what the bunk heater could handle. So I have been idling not only to keep the truck rolling, but to keep myself from freezing as well.

Not setting tractor brake doesn't work for me. Sitting there tapping throttle doesn't do it either. This seems to be the only thing that has worked so far for me. The auto start is nice, until it doesn't start in the middle of the night. When I am sitting in weather at -30 temps, I am idling the truck.

what has your dealer told u to do? I believe we have been able to change the programing, on the last truck we sold

Idle decisions are made by the company. All they have to do is hook the laptop up. In the menu they have an Idle Shutdown options. They can select anything from idle time, cruise override, auto start temperature and there might be a few others, hit Enter and they are done.
Many trucks in the old days you could just unplug the VSS on the tranny but I don't think you can do that today because the ECM relies on the VSS and the truck will run like crap.
Sometimes you can ask your shop if they will change it but many have strict rules. Occasionally you might run into a sympathetic mechanic. I've had a couple change mine in the past like edit my speed limiter. The company can't say anything to you if the shop changed it. -
I can't stand idling. Where's the sense in running a 350+ hp engine to keep a driver warm? I wish my company got APUs instead of the battery powered bunk heater.
The bunk heater works fine when it wants to. But it really sucks when you're 8 hours into your break when you are woken up to a low voltage alarm. And for the last three nights it hasn't worked at all. I can sleep down to 50F comfortably, down to 30 with some discomfort. Last night it was 20; $78 later, I woke up in a hotel room, warm.
Fyi, I have no load on the batteries when the truck is turned off and my company put in an auto shutdown, only limited to 10 minutes idle from 20 to 80 degrees.Last edited: Mar 23, 2014
