Hi Been considering Andrus, hoping some of you guys that are already there can answer a few questions if you don't mind...

Does Andrus conduct the DOT Physical during orientation? or is it left to the driver to have this done at home prior to orientation?

Are you allowed to fuel anywhere you want? Or if there is an approved list of fuel stops are you allowed to fuel at any of these i.e.. plan your own fueling stops or do they force you to stop at particular locations along your routes?

Also is it forced routing or can you route yourself, assuming of course you stay reasonable with OOR miles?

During orientation do they conduct urine or hair follicle testing?

Whats roughly the average length of haul for you guys?

    Are you on Elogs/Qualcomm?

Thanks for any answers, really liking the idea of running Western 11 and more frequent hometime.

Truckersteve73, You will need to come with your physical, the only thing Andrus does is a strength type test, very easy though.

They have a fuel solution for you, so to answer 2 questions, you do have to follow their route and fuel where they say, it's not bad though.

During orientation, they do a urinalysis, no hair. the past week I have been going non stop, they have a pre plan for me before I even get close to dropping my freight. I usually average anywhere from 2500 to 3000 miles a week, sometimes a little less. We use elogs and qcomm.

    Hope this helps.

yeah man, thanks for answering my questions. I've always done all 48 states and at my last company we had to use Pilot/J as our fuel stops for the most part, but we could fuel at any location/time we wanted to... I liked this because I was able to skip some of the most congested pilots and also was able to fuel during odd hours of the night which made the whole expeirence a lot easier for the driver...

But I'm thinking it wouldn't be so bad on western 11 because most stops aren't as bad as ones in the east etc... Thanks for letting me know you average 2500 to 3000 miles/week, but was also wondering what the average trip length is?

Really liking how you said they are pretty good with the pre plans, being in the dark not knowing what is coming next was one thing I didn't like in the past

On the average my trips have been 650 - 850 give or take. I've been pretty happy here. They, like any other company have things that are good and bad. I have only been sent one bad fuel solution where it was really congested and a pain to get into, but that was because a driver left her truck in the middle of the fuel island to get something to eat.

I was interested in Andrus until I saw the 6 month wait time for medical insurance. Maybe not a complete deal killer but pretty close.

Thanks for all the help Snowshoes, that sounds pretty good, The reason I ask is I know some companies rarely give more than a 4-500 mile load, therefore requiring you to Pu and Del on the same day routinely. I like pretty much any other driver like the days when one can be under a load and not have to PU/Deliver. Don't get me wrong I know sometimes there are loads like this, but was just making it sure that its not the case everytime etc... I'm pretty sure I'm going to go ahead and put in an app.

Yeah I'm aware of the 6 months before insurance, I can understand why that would be a deterrent to many drivers, but in my case I would rather not pay for medical insurance anyhow. Regardless thanks for taking the time to be helpful in pointing it out.
