Anybody here work for them or know someone who does. I would just like to know more about them. I see the trucks from time to time. Never had a chance to talk to one of their drivers though.

I've talked to a few of their drivers. I haven't heard anything bad about the company. The equipment is well maintained, pay is competive, and they have plenty of work.

He pretty much summed it up. I talk to Andrews Transport drivers all the time at Shell Lubricants in Galena Park Tx. You can hardly go wrong pulling a tank and Andrews is on top of their game. There is an Andrews Transport and an Andrews Logistics. Both company logos are identical except for the "Logistics" and "Transport" The owner of Logistics got his start with Transport which is still owned by the founder but they are separate companies.

I worked for Andrews Transport for three years, out of the San Antonio terminal. It's one of the best companies I ever worked for.

Most of their work is out-and-back, non-hazmat. Typically, they load motor oil or something similar, haul it to a customer, pump it off, then deadhead back to the origin city. The Houston terminal has local drivers that take trailers to SOPUS to load, and bring the loaded trailers back to the yard. The San Antonio terminal hauls a lot of crude oil, and some refined product, like solvents. They pay percentage of linehaul, and there is accessorial pay for running the pump, extra stops (although I never had a multi-stop load), breakdowns, demurrage, etc.

Terminals are in San Antonio, Houston, Beaumont, Diboll, Tyler, Fort Worth, Abilene, Port Allen LA (Baton Rouge), and Ardmore OK.

TruckerfromATX: The equipment is well maintained because Andrews hires great people in the maintenance department. From the Director of Maintenance Jimmy Lindsay and his predecessor Ron Landers, to mechanics like Stan and Jared in San Antonio and Lee in Beaumont, everybody in Andrews maintenance is top-notch.

DNA: Mr. (Bill) Andrews owns Andrews Transport and Andrews Logistics. He might have partners in Logistics, but Logistics and Transport are sister companies.

One thing I particularly liked about Andrews Transport is that there is very little "corporate overhead," and a great corporate culture. Terminal Managers report directly to the Randall Ingo (President/COO), who is very much aware of what is happening at all the terminals. "The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" will never be said about ATLP! Upper management will know you by your first name, and you will know them by theirs, as well.

Anyone interested in driving for Andrews Transport can PM me, and I'll give you the phone number for the Gene Thomas, the Driver Relations Coordinator / recruiter. Yes, the whole company only needs one recruiter.

    Andrews Logistics, or Andrews Transport?

Transport usually washes out in the cities where their terminals are located.

Transport generally hauls out, and deadheads back. All tanker work. Terminals in Texas, OK, and Louisiana.

Logistics "is an asset-based carrier" (not sure exactly what that means), hauls tanker and dry van, and has terminals nationwide. I think Logistics operates more like an OTR linehaul carrier, whereas Transport returns to the terminal city, reloads, and heads back out loaded again.

At Logistics we load, deliver, and return. I'm out of the Deer Park terminal and we load at about 8 different places between Houston and Sulphur Louisiana. We have some container runs to Arkansas and back but all I pull are tanks loaded with oil. I really enjoy, so far all, of the deliveries and mostly the deadhead back to Deer Park. The only other terminal I am familiar with is Irving and I believe all of those drivers are on dedicated runs hauling gas cylinders between Matheson Tri Gas terminals. I have found that oil distributors are good people and always happy when their product arrives. Very different from van and reefer freight customers. Tanker work is definitely my niche and I can't see myself doing anything else.
