I know I should know what's on my truck but I can't remember what my mechanic installed. It came with a 7 micron filter but we changed it to a 20 I believe.I'm at 3.5" restriction down from 5.25".I had Peterbilt change the primary filter head but that didn't help much as far as restriction.I'm still using the secondary as well.

I was running Schaeffers 7000 (synthetic blend 15W40) until I accidently ran out at my last oil drain. At that time Schaeffers was saying I could run out to about 40,000 miles, but I drop the oil at 30-32,000. Since I was out of oil I had to break down and run Rotella for a short time and I am now remembered why I switched. The Rotella only has about 10,000 on it and my oil pressure is already down about 5-7psi along with higher temps (oil and coolant).

I currently have Schaeffers 9000 (full synthetic 5W40) sitting in the barn for my next change in a couple of weeks. With the 9000 series oil I will be able to run out to at least 50,000 with out a bypass system. But until i install the system I will probably only go to 40,000. With the spinner Schaeffer is guessing that I could pretty much go 100,000+ depending on what the samples look like. Once the spinner is on the truck I'm gonna start sampling about every 15-20,000 (or possibly monthly).

Nope.I should have been a little more clear in prev post. Before I installed the Davco I had Peterbilt change the Primary filter head in a waisted effort to decrease restriction.Didn't cost me anything(goodwill or something like that).Only have the Davco 382 and the CAT secondary on the truck.

Another question about Spinner install.Where's the best place to plumb the oil return from the Spinner back into the engine???Thanks

I run a bypass system called the fs2500.Got to fs2500.com.I have been using it for about two years know and I'am very happy with unit.Comes with fully detailed installation instructions based on model of truck and engine type.I've got 02 pete c15 cat.If you run advanced cat filter on engine your oil bypass filter gets changed every 22,000km and engine filter 50,000km.I've been running Amsoil full synthetic for about 3 years 15w40 high TBN oil awsome stuff. My oil samples at 88,oookm on oil are just as clean as samples at 20,000km.I alternate my oil changes 100,000km then the next change i go 60,000km.With my model engine very easy install.I f you got to the site i gave you they will also show you installation on a pete with acert engine.Hope this helps.

I also run the fs-2500 but I just started in december, the first sample at 10 k came back excellent so I guess we'll keep going till they say change it. The only thing I didn't like about some of the other filter systems was that they were so big they needed to be mounted behind the cab and had 15 feet of line to worry about rubbing through or getting hit with road debris, maybe thats not that big of a deal but I thought the fs-2500 was just the simplest

I know the AMSOIL unit comes with real good lines with it. I don't think you have to worry about them.
