Is that place even open? Saw somewhere that it might be closed. Planning my trip and will be stopping on 25 somewhere between Albuquerque and Denver.

It's closed unfortunately. I don't know why I liked that place but I used to stop there and eat all the time. Food wasn't that great but I liked the people that worked there.

The Rocky Mountain Travel Center north of Pueblo is closed too. Are any truckstops on 25 still open?
-
Pretty slim pickins. You got the Shell in Trinidad with minimal parking but the mexican joint next door is not bad. Loves near Pueblo. Little fuel stop in Co City. Then Tomahawk in Fountain. There are a couple little places north of Fountain but I can't remember the exit numbers or names. It always struck me as kind of odd that there weren't more truck stops between El Paso and Denver but I guess there's not enough of a market.

I ended up at the Trinidad rest area. The bathrooms seem almost palatial compared to New Mexico, LOL.
When did that Love's open? My truckstop guide doesn't list it. -
Loves been there a while. I have been in there once last fall. I usually am on my way to or from the San Luis valley when I run that area so I don't stop much south of Denver. I used to stop in Aguilar pretty frequently after I loaded but last December a buddy and I got off the exit and the place was blacked out and the lot hadn't been plowed. I forgot about Walsenberg - there is a little truckstop off the 1st exit if you're headed south. Has an A & W inside. Nothing to get excited about.
Ya, NM might as well dig a hole and put a seat over it - but I guess it's a rest area, serves the purpose. -
Between Denver and Trinidad, you've got the Conoco/McD's in Monument can handle about a dozen trucks. Tomahawk in Fountain, Love's at the 103, Tomahawk in Walsenburg, Diamond Shamrock in Colo. City (this place should be condemned), and the Shell in Trinidad. Then the rest areas at the 19, 76, and 111/113 respectively.
I ate at that Amato place once, barely made it back to Denver in one piece. The Tomahawk in Walsenburg used to be good for a good laugh. There was a crossdresser who worked I-25 between PPIR and Walsenburg, hung out in the rest areas or that truck stop. Would offer you oral for $20. Plied it's trade in that TS several times. At some point, State Patrol finally caught up with it. Last I heard it was making new friends at the state pen. for 10 years. -
The Tomahawk in Fountain is a nasty place, imo, I have been afraid to try the biscuits cafe there..
-
It was always good for a parking spot late at night tho -
They keep trying to clean that Tomahawk up. It's random, some times it's clean and decent, other times it's a pit. The resturant isn't bad, the food is edible.
Now, if you want to lose a truck, try the Diamond Shamrock in Colorado City. The dirt lot out back is brutal.
