Am I pretty much blacklisted now?

I drove for Central Ref. for 1 year, July 2010 to July 2011, did my training with them and everything. I wanted to make this my career, I went on to get my passport and doubles/triples and tanker endorsements.

I had 3 minor preventable backing accidents in the first year. The most expensive one was $200, and the last one was only $50 (!).. so they're on my DAC report. After the 3rd accident, they didn't fire me but they put me on 365 day probation. My next 6 months I was clean as a whistle. I got through my rookie phase and the learning curve and all that and I'm very proud of my backing abilities now. I know the right balance between confidence and recklessness.

I left Central because I thought I could explore employment with other companies, but that was a dumb move with my record. Now Central gives me the runaround when I want to go back, my DAC shows 3 accidents, and it shows "Eligible for rehire?: Upon review"

Are there any companies out there who don't use DAC? My MVR as clean since none of these things are DOT reportable and i never had a tciket or anything.

I had a lot of accidents and I don't dispute them, but they were so minor I hope they don't end my driving career, and my last 6 months was perfect.

err... probably shouldn't have left Central...

I don't know if anyone out there ignores DAC reports, and if there are, it's run by slimeballs that will run you hard and pay you in monopoly money.

One thing to understand, most places don't see the word "minor", all they see is "3 backing accidents in 1 year."

Yep, pretty ridiculous how bumping a trailer and slightly bending his hazmat placard doing $50 counts the same as backing into a building.. Oh well, thats how the game is played I guess

Worst case scenario; accidents will drop off my DAC after 3 years right? I'm thinking I could always give it another go in 2014

i was thinking that too, maybe this is where the backing issues come from? i cant imagine being even close to reckless when backing, look, look, look.
being carefull and slow backing doesnt mean you are not confident

I saw a poster on here with the perfect motto for backing.

"Never THINK you can make it, when KNOWING is only a 53' walk"

No I was reckless because I was overconfident.. I would be very careful for a while, then get ####y/careless/reckless or whatever you want to call it. I'd think "I've done this a dozen times.. I'm pretty sure I'm clear on the blind side" then snap!

Like I said my last 6 months I'm confident but not careless. I know I can put my truck in the most difficult of docks SAFELY (but NOT quickly!) because I'll be getting out to look a lot of the time. I don't care if I have to block somebody's yard for a day and a half, and back it in inch-by-inch, I will not move if I'll hit something.

I learned it's really just about time. You can put a truck anywhere given enough time to get out/pull up. I stopped trying to be the cool guy who could whip a truck right into the hole, and started being the cautious guy who, even in the easiest WalMart docks with no other truck on either side will do a pull-up or two just to maintain a good line of sight

ok so you had 3 bumps you are a rookie I dont see a big deal we all had them, have you applied with other companies and if so what was their response? I know that you can pass a driving and back up test anyday because you are not the same driver from a year ago...make a potential employer see that in you...keep searching keep us posted and dont listen to negative comments in this forum some people will try to put you down with their crap.
