Always wear shower shoes when taking a shower in all truck stops. This is obvious and stupid but a few months ago I had a very nasty experience from not wearing them in a shower in Laredo. At the time I was making massive amounts of short runs out of Laredo so I am sure the Pilot down there is where I got it. Every now and then I will forget to put them in my pack when I shower, never had a problem I only not do it once in a while. I got some bad kind of blisters on my feet. They were huge and deep Toe to ankle. I searched all over the internet looked at thousands of gross pics and could not find anything even close to what I had.

These blisters were from toe to heal and got so big they caused massive pain. I had to pop them. Took my pocket knife torched it till it glowed cooled it down with alchohol and then popped them. They were super deep like an 1/8+ of skin to pop. Then just bright yellow thin liqued would run out everywhere. Worse thing is they spread to my hands. Then they started to segment on my feet when I popped them just creationg little walls and basically taking over my entire feet. I used everything, alchohal, peroxide, bleach lysol, athletes feet spray a few weeks of that they all of a sudden just died. The whole time I was panicked. It never spread above my ankles or wrist, but the thought was constantly in my mind about what would happen if they did spread elsewhere. My face would have been permanently mangled if they spread there, my neck would probably put me in the hospital fighting for my life, my family jewels would have definitely lost something down there, I sit on my bottom for a living, out of work if I got them on my ace. Couldnt get dispatch at the time to let me take the time off to go see a doc. just super scary.

Now every time I leave the truck because of that I go a mile out of my way to wash my hands each time I touch something use the alcohol rub hand loation every time I get in truck, wear shower shoes still use the lotramin AT ets. Just a really bad experience, wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Just please for new or old drivers take precautions about crap like that.

This is the first time I have ever had athletes foot or any other kind of rash except for chickenpox which doesnt count, but all it takes is once. Not exaggerating these were deep. Left thick mats of dead skin about as thick as floor mats on my feet, my hands which I basically fermented in alcohol rub stuff while driving, a good dose of bleach and even out of last resort lysol to get rid of were not as bad as my feet. All it takes is one time. Once in a life time is once two many. Its not worth the risk, trust me.

Any time you have a yellowish discharge from a blister or sore (these were most likely sores) you should see a doctor. It sounds very similar to a staph infection. Good thing is that your body fought it off. Hopefully it does not come back.

this is ALSO the reason(s) why i say, "DO NOT SIT ON ANYTHING IN A SHOWER ROOM AS WELL"......

because we really DO NOT KNOW, what another person has "left behind"....

wear your shower slippers, and use (maybe) the CLEAN floor mat for a protective shield between your arse and the seat....

i am glad to hear you are ok, BUT i would STILL go to a doctor....you could get another run of that....

and from another poster, i will add this..regarding staph infections.....

I carry a paper towel soaked with windex to wipe the seat before I sit. Hopefully someone else can benefit from that info lol.

but isn't it a crying shame that WE HAVE TO DO THE CLEANING, that the paid monkeys are SUPPOSED TO BE DOING....????

i mean for real.....we pay ENOUGH in fuel, oil and accessories, we pay ENOUGH for the food, which is either dried out or under cooked, we sometimes pay for parking......we pay too much for soda pop, etc,etc...and they cannot hire a well trained monkey to keep things clean...??

I think it was Nana or Injun that mentioned they carry a spray bottle of anti-bacterial stuff and spray down areas before using them. Maybe it wasn't one of them, some of the commercial cleaners will kill anything they touch so a good spray down will make things halfways safe.

They might still be cleaning, but, using plain water does nothing to actually clean as you know. I cannot think of the number of times I have seen a "freshly" cleaned shower room and the water on the floor left over from the cleaning was BLACK.

Come to think of it, a spray bottle with a bleach or chlorine solution would work well. Just not if they have used an ammonia based cleaner before though.

I've seen them use the same towels the drivers use to dry their bodies, to mop up the floors. They just throw the towel on the floor and step on it swiping along the floor -- disgusting. I take my own towel for drying now.
