Any experience comparing these two trailers? I can’t find any weight info on the Lode Kings, but Doepker posts their weights on their website. The Doepker steel hopper trailers are lighter than the Lode Kings. Lode King is cheaper in price.

While I cannot directly answer your question, I do own two Doepker end dump tri axles, and find them to be well made.

I am generally a Doepker fan, but the lower price of the Lode King is interesting but I am concerned it may come with a weight penalty, or other issues.

I can't see steel hoppers being lighter than aluminum. Lode King is a hometown (well, more home-province) brand for me, and I haven't encountered one of their products I haven't liked (flat or bulk).

Those Distinction trailers are like the Cadillac of hoppers. Never used a Doepker though.

I'd say call them or a dealer (I've heard FGI is a direct sales outlet for Lode King) and ask.

I was using a set of 2010+ Distinction trailers back in May, pulling with a 2011 Mack Pinnacle (MP8) and Hydro-vac, think I was somewhere between 19,000-19,500 kg tare on full tanks.

Having driven 6 years for a Sask/based bulk hauler I can say that as of three years ago the Lodeking super-b's that we had were 1100# heavier than Doepkers with exactly the same equipment. The Lodekings also needed alignments before being put on the road where the Doepkers were still within alignment when inspected after 1 year.

I have a set of Doepker's, open end, steel hopper bottoms with aluminum slopes. Was pulling a set of Wilson aluminum closed end, the Doepkers are also 1,000 lbs lighter than the Wilson's.
My empty weight with a 2016 Cascadia DD16 is 19,200 kgs full of fuel.
The company has one set of Legacy's, but they are heavier than mine as they have a double wall to get the strength.

    That’s hilarious. I have a 72” W900L and a Trail King 35ton extendable RGN trailer. Without the tip-out I weigh 19,940 empty.

and you are dragging 2 or 3 axles down the road and can LEGALLY haul 19560 kg as a tandem or 26560 kg as a tridem.
They are talking about an 8 axle super B that can legally haul 44300 kg.
I understand that you are in a different area of the industry, the bulk industry is completely different from the rgn industry.
In my 45 years as a truck driver I have played in many different areas of this industry.
    Try comparing apples to apples.
