I have crossed those bridges many times with a conventional tractor and a 53' trailer and the only time I have ever had to stop was when someone can't keep it on their side of the road.
Alternate route around those two narrow bridges in Cairo, IL?

There's a tighter one going from KY into OH- can't remember where exactly. So tight if another truck comes one guy has to almost stop to avoid touching mirrors.
Did the one in Cairo before no problem.Jubal Early Times Thanks this. -

I had a trainee quit on that bridge - turns out he was afraid of heights. We got about 1/3 of the way on it and he went darn near catatonic. First time I ever pulled a guy out in the middle of the road.

I take the extra miles 57/146/24. Once was enough for me.

Coolest thing is open metal grate so you can look straight down through bridgegentleroger Thanks this. -
I don’t see what the big deal is. You’re a professional driver. Drive the truck. Been across that one and many others like it. I just ease across them and get on with it.

Iv'e had my Sea Doos under the Mackinac bridge looking up at the trucks crossing the open metal grate. Awe inspiring. Going over the bridge is cool in its own right.

When I drove over the Ohio River bridge, it wasn't as bad as I remembered. I may have had the tandems back farther. I was able to stay in my lane on the curve. I'm not sure if I'm willing to find out if two trucks can pass each other on the curve at the end of the bridge without taking a mirror off or worse but there weren't any oncoming trucks this time.
ducnut Thanks this.
