    Hey!
A bit about me......44, 5'7, female, etc. Former husband drove our son's life away and still drives and my dad has driven for nearly 30 years for Coke and now Highland Dairy. Myself? Zero experience but I do know how to drive a standard, LOL! I wanted to learn with my ex and have us team before we had our son but he wasn't interested so I have never been behind the wheel to have the slighest idea what to do first.
When I went with him, my mind was frequently blown on the parking and backing in process and I am still not convinced I could do that but I am otherwise a good driver with a very good driving record, safe, attentive, courteous, etc.
I was injured on my last job of 5 years which was 3 years ago and it is beginning to seem as tho I might have made myself unemployable from having went thru workers' comp on that ordeal as it has been 3 years and places that are hiring and types of jobs I know I can do that I apply for do not hire me so about two hours ago, all of a sudden I went "Hey! Go OTR (providing I can find a company that would allow my 12 year old homeschooled son) and be done with it.
If anyone would like to offer suggestions, tips or hints, super! Otherwise, I will comb thru the pages and see what I can find.
I would prefer finding a way and someone with a semi and trailer that could let me try it out before I embarrased myself signing on with a company that will train you, etc but I don't know if that will happen.
Thanks and keep the rubber side down!

Prime eh? I am in northeastern Oklahoma and I am aware a driver is supposed to live within a certain range of the yard and company if I recall correctly? I'll stop by a truckstop (if I can find one!) while I am in Tulsa tomorrow and grab and armful of those trucker magazines to peruse thru and get a feel for companies offerings.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Lots of companies have rider programs, so your son can go with you.

Panther Expedite will hire you with no experience to drive cargo vans, but ask about rider program. Don't mention the home schooling; they may think you won't concentate on your job.

If money is tight, check with Prime and Central Refrigerated about their training & rider program.

Surely you jest!? LOL! I said it because of Oahu being my first love and always having tropical and aloha conditions on the brain.

Well, I have (since this thread) been reminded of some probable reasons why doing this wouldn't work (living on painkillers and several upper body and neck and shoulder problems as for the dropping the trailer, having to unload at times, etc). Ugh...
