something just doesn’t make sense to me. So as a cmv operator, you are allowed up to .04 BAC, not get in trouble, no points on license, not get fired, etc. If you are 100% sober but have sealed, not previously opened alcohol in the cab, even if you have it stored in a safe not in arms reach, you can get put out of service, lose your license, get fired, etc. Then, maybe if you’re lucky, a lawyer could bail you out so you can work again? If that’s the law, enforce the BAC to be completely zero, then the alcohol in cab rule can make more sense. Anyone care to explain?

My personal rule is No Alcohol while at work. If I am gone three weeks it's prohibition time for the duration. I love a cold beer but only at home, off duty. And no buying booze while on company equipment.

That rule is probably because of the ones who could not leave the bottle alone, it is getting the devil out of sight so hopefully it does not draw the person off the wagon. It is a drug like pot, any in system is oos until it is out, mouthwash has some in it so that can get you in trouble also.
