Been laid off from Alan Ritchey Inc., the best truck driving job in my 60 years of driving. Ritchey lost the contract because the USPS started using "freight brokers" to move the mail from Springfield, Ma to Dallas, Tx. also "freight brokers" took Ritchey's route from Springfield, Ma to Memphis, Tn so around 20 drivers were laid off. But I post this to say that of all the trucking companies that I have driven for, Alan Ritchey was the best.

Alan Ritchey uses cameras, outward and driver facing, plus every monitor that you can imagine. I never changed my habits, never got a call from safety for any "violation". Never found a mistake on my payroll, it was right on the penny every payday. The equipment was top of the line. Dispatchers were the best bunch that a driver could ask for. Never had a breakdown, only trouble was one flat tire that was brought into me one night, 3 hours to get it repaired and I got paid for the 3 hours, $90.00. Had to wait on my relay driver in Knoxville one night for 3 hrs. got paid.

Alan Ritchey spoiled this "old man". I doubt if I could ever find another trucking company to compare.

Bidding the work out to brokers was a big mistake. USPS has never ran right.

In about 1996 I broke down in my pickup on I-35 right in front of Allen Ritchey. A mechanic was just leaving work and heading home after working the overnight shift. He stopped and asked if all was well. Long story short, my fuel pump had gone out. He pulled my pickup into his bay, DROVE me to Gainesville to grab a new fuel pump, then installed it for me. I was in awe and being a broke kid I gave him the remainder of my life savings which at the time was about $50 bucks. Seriously will never forget that dude and the impact he made on me to pay it forward when possible.

I “think” his name was Marshall. A buddy of mine from Gainesville knew of him and said he defiantly battled some troubles but overall was a good fellah.

From what I am hearing, it is pure "chaos" in Springfield, Ma now. drivers can't speak or understand English, can't back a truck in a door, if they show up.I am waiting to hear that a whole load of mail is missing.
