Every ones claims how good the old days were. Well today is tomorrows old days.

Drivers take a minute to help another driver new or not, old or young does not matter.

Sometimes you just cannot eat another Hotdog before you get to the cashier (ya know its free if its gone).

Sometimes just a good word, or offering to help someone who can not seem to get it into a parking space.

Sometimes a smile, or a water jug for the guy on the shoulder.

It used to be when drivers even saw a truck on the side they were bellowing out need some help there east bound.

Just take a minute and remember, we all have the same goal, get the load delivered safely, and take the wife her money for Wally World.

Seat Belts save lives, I can show you pictures of my cab where the tanker came inside, if not for my seatbelt you would not be reading this dribble now.

God Bless Be safe, and pass the fries.

    Great Speech............

Problem is, No matter what we say, Nobody Listens....

They want the 'old' days gone...

back when truckers were truckers...BIG hearts and minimal excuses were the norm.

Nowadays its every man for himself....

    nowadays everything is a "Secret"

Nowadays its Greed..Not just $$$ greed..But Securement of Customer greed too

Nowadays we let 'Technology pave our way to success..(Which in reality,Technology has done nothing but give us more inconveniernces and built heavy competition)

Nowadays Drivers are wind up alarm clocks with no Civil Rights that say "YES SIR and NO SIR" to authority and such

We(established truckers)..Have let WAY WAY too many people into this industry..Im not talking about Drivers......im Talking about Folks with NO understanding of this industry making executive decisions WITHOUT our Approval....

We,Paved the way..We know the streets..We understand how to get the job done right..Without asking for anything or excuses......YET the tyranny that is exposed in this industry makes my blood boil.

Nowadays if you see someone on the side of the road you are under the HOS gun and you also assume that driver has already called road service. Back in the day you didn't worry so much about log books and you assumed that trucker had no means of communication and could really use some help. Remember the lines at the pay phones?...

I help drivers whenever I can. Like today at the fuel island. A rookie asked me how to replace a break light. The reason he was having problems was someone put a screw through it to hold it in place. He had never changed one before and no one ever showed him. I took the time to show him how to replace it, and where they were located in the truck stop. He was thankful.

I enjoy helping people. Truck drivers or not. Life is way too short to be in a hurry all the time and not take the time to help someone.

Yep I remember those lines. Also remember my first cell phone. Was on a cord attached to a bag about the size of a briefcase. I also remember that phone ALWAYS had a signal and NEVER dropped a call. Unfortunately I also remember the bill was over a grand each month.

yeah, on 12/20/2013 about 15:45 blew a left front steer, bounced it off a SB JB truck, breaking the output shaft to the pitman arm from the steering gear box, = no steering at all just hang on. ended up facing west on the sound bound shoulder, when it the soft sandy shoulder it was pushed over by the front loaded trailer trying to get into the bunk, broke off the 5th wheel plate, which allowed the heavy &^%$ trailers to stop behind me. All in All a few minor scratches, everybody walked away. In fact the other truck drove away.

Some of the Good old days were not so good. No power steering, no such thing as air ride seats or suspension, no air conditioning, no power mirrors or windows, no factory am,fm, weather xm radios, and that doesn't mention what they called a sleeper and oh ya I forgot the twin stick transmissions.

Yep there are parts of the good old days I can get by very nicely without thank you very much.
