Hi Guys,
This is all relatively new to me so any advice is appreciated. It is -30C up here so that may have something to do with it, but here are the symptoms.
On cold start, truck won't build air past about approximately 60 PSI. After warming up for 10-15 minutes getting some temp in it it still stays around 60 PSI (Sometimes it'll work without fault). By revving the engine to approx 2RPM multiple times it'll climb to about 70 PSI, then drop back to 60. Wait longer, rev some more (it's never the same) it'll then build up to it's 120. Sometimes if I tap on the governor then rev it'll work but could all so just coincidence.
This has happened a couple times on the road too, seems to happen when pulling into a rest stop, pulling the brake pin then the air buzzer goes off and it drops to 60ish PSI. Following the same routine above will get it going.
I've had the truck towed twice now to shops during a run and the shop runs tanor gas through it and whatever else then it starts working, of course in their heated shop too. $400 later and I'm back on the road, they tell me it mustve frozen but I'm starting to think that isn't the issue.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

When was the last time you changed the air dryer cartridge? I change mine every year never had a problem.

Cold temps can make small unnoticeable leaks turn into problems. It may be that you have several leaks that are biting you in the butt during cold weather. However, air govenors are not too expensive. Swap it out. If it doesn't fix the issue, then you have the spare you should be carrying anyway.

Now that we are having this conversation, we didn't have the problem until we replaced the air dryer... May be worth revisiting. Frustrating though, even a little leak can cause intermittent problems that high RPMs would save?

Did you replace the air governor also. Some truck have the air governor inside the air dryer, it all one piece. Some have air governor is separate from air dryer. The air governor go bad and are easy to replace and cheap.

I replaced my air dryer/ governor assembly last summer, a Bendix unit mounted on the end of tge air tank. Reman (Mexico) from Freightliner. Never has worked properly. Froze up this winter, first time for this truck in 16 winters.
Replaced it with a new unit. Found my discharge line compressor to tank had a hole in it causing extended recharge times. Only leaks when compressor is pumping, hard to detect. -
You are sure there is no air blowing out of the bottom of the dryer?
