well another issue ive been wondering about is that since i bought my truck new its never not done it the air dryer is a brand new bendix unit well my problem is the dam thing discharges more times then i dont k now what. i counted the other day when cruising at a steady speed on eway it will discharge every 15 SECONDS yea i know wow.... i always have dry air with the amount that thing discharges lol...
but seriously how quick is to quick....is there a reason why it will discharge so many times, it builds air pressure fine compressor works well and quick for being an old b mode lcat.
should i not pay no mind to it? i just find it to be a little excessive in the amount of times it discharges.
what could cause this, also there is no audible air leaks when truck is off.
AIR DRYER AIR DISCHARGE...how many times is to many times.

You have a major leak. At that rate your compressor is pulling 100% duty. once your system hits 120 and you don't use anything air related it should not lose any air. You'll be getting some folks mad who are trying to sleep near you if you leave it running.
If truck doesn't lose air when shut down for the night, the leak is before the check valve. Check for loose fittings/ bolts from air dryer to compressor. Use the soapy water bottle. -
a major leak???? WTH? you mean a leak under load like when im reving engine up or driving it ? wow there isnt anything audible if it is the case tho? imma check with soapy water. But Its hard for any of the trucks ive ever owned for them to hold air pressure overnight my truck loses air after maybe 4-5 hours of sitting... I know i had a leak and i know its not normal i just didnt think something thats not audible would be considered MAJOR? like as if yo were to hit the brakes and hear a leaking brake chamber type MAJOR>>... truck has actually been running like this for a while but imma soap her down and see whats up.

I would remove the air intake off the air compressor, and then run the engine untill the air dryer unloads, then shut off the engine, and see if there is air comming out of the intake. That would mean the unloaders are leaking.
I have an adapter to use shop air, it is a lot quieter that way.
Just a thought! -
That's way too fast. The air dryer needs at least a couple minutes to regenerate properly. Anything less than 15 minutes in between purges going down the highway is a concern.

Check the lines from the govner to the air tank and from the govner to the dryer i see the lines rot and leak check it with a spray bottle with soap and water

Sounds like the one way valve is leaking, the compressor pumps air through the dryer into the tanks, reaches pressure and shuts off, then the air leaks back through the dryer and compressor, difficult to hear through all that. As mentioned previously, it's easiest to use an adapter to feed shop air into the discharge line feeding into the air dryer. Air it up 'til the dryer pops off, then disconnect the line and see how much air leaks back out. Should be just a couple seconds. If it empties the wet or primary tank, my bets on the one-way valve, some trucks have it in the air dryer, some in the wet tank.

either a bad sputter valve or a bad air governor.
Last year, had my 09 cascadia with a DD15 doing it. Bad sputter valve.
This week, my 07 Century with 14L DDS60 was doing it. Bad Governor. -
OK I'm not a mekanak, nor do I pretend to be, but it sounds to me like it might be a bad check valve??????? (Or am I showing my senility.......again?)

First make sure you don't have any MAJOR air leaks. If it's leaking down and cycling back on that fast i promise you will be able to hear it. Do this with the brakes released in case it's a bad brake diaphram. I am pretty sure a leak is not your problem but it's easy enough to check it first.
Next, build up your air to 120 psi, once the purge valve dumps, with the engine running, unhook the small air line at the drier, this line comes from the air governor and is basically a signal line that tells the drier to dump the purge valve on the bottom of the drier. There shouldn't be any air coming out of the line at this time. Now wait.... 15 seconds, or the amount of time it usually takes for the purge valve to dump again and i bet you will find air starts coming out of the small line that you unhooked......it's not supposed to. This means bad governor...cheap easy fix. It is also possible that it's the unloader valve in the compressor. Also, a cheap easy fix, but typically it's the governor....change this first.
If you wait a while and you don't get air coming out of the small line that you have unhooked and the purge valve still dumps, replace the purge valve...
Hope this helps....let us know what you find and good luck!
