I like the idea of being able to secure the rig when I park it for extended times, as they are easily enough to steal.
Just wondering if anyone (especially one with a W900 ever used this?
It's about $78...

doesn't price usually reflect quality ?????
Sounds cheap, but do not know............. -
Prolly something someone could BASH apart - knowing my luck.

The one's made from stainless are much more $$$$ but way more durable than plastic. I see the plastic one slowing down the "honest" thieves while the stainless ones will stop the hardcore thieves.
-
I had one; one time. Thing was a pain in the butt. I hated it. It did not fit very good on a pete. Was a requirement at prime tho.....
-
But the plunger posts for the brakes are only plastic to start with, so a very determined thief could just smash them off. I think they are probably more a superficial and visible deterrent.
-
Yes and no........they are a visual deterrent for sure but as was explained to me at Celadork was that if you break the cuff you'll probably damage the brake knobs also making it a real PITA to take off with the truck......I'm not saying it's true ...just what the trained monkeys.....I mean mechanics at Celadork ....told me when I asked what good were they.
And I agree with Tarps they are a PITA to deal with....and god forbid you lose the key -
I bought one of the hard plastic ones from the knife vendor at the Petro in Kingman, AZ back in 1997. He had another one that he took out on the sidewalk and took his sledge hammer to and it never even put a crack in it. It fit good and I think I paid $75 for it. When I sold my Pete I gave it to a friend. It is probably works better then that steering wheel lock and what thief carries around a sledge hammer but your right don't loose the key. A thief is going to see that and look at the next truck they don't have time to mess around.
I had a new Peterbilt in 97' and was parked at the Petro in El Paso and had the lock on not for sure if my truck was looked at but their was another new Pete parked a few spaces down that parked just after me and we were both inside the truck stop. When he came back out his truck was gone and the trailer was dollied down, this happen in broad daylight. He could have set it up but he was a long way from home.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Put road trucker dot com in front of this /warlok/t-series-truck-security-anti-theft-lock-kit-tsk-50.htm and you will see what I got. I love all the stuff in there. I got an FLD though. When I ditch my trailer I feel confident. On the rare occasion I ditch my tractor I feel confident. And I feel confident my trailer door lock can't be bolt cut. I'm confident I did my best. What happens after that, happens. I bought mine online somewhere. Don't remember where. I saw this for sale at Freightliner once since.
