I drive a 2015 Cascadia and of course company provides bulbs. But like wiper blades, they are the cheapest things they can buy. So I have been contemplating buying a set of after market H11 LED bulbs. I'm looking at these:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765PQBBW/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3MTC0VF7YEOYP&colid=3UAYH7R6Y1I3Y&psc=1

    My question is this:
Since they are not a true LED headlight assembly replacement (which I cannot do) will they put out the same amount of light and at same distances or will they really be no better than an "Xtreme white" type of bulb?

I drove a 2017 Volvo recently with the LED lights and was mildly impressed with the lights. (Still dislike Volvo, but I guess they are trying. :p)

Has any one tried these type of bulb and has first hand knowledge?

I have a T600 with the dual 4X6 headlights, so my experience might be a little different. I recently bought some fancy ones with the led accent lights at the bottom (because cool looking) with halogen lamps for the headlights themselves. The halogens sucked, but they came with the set, so they were, most likely, the cheapest bulbs they could put in them. I bought some led replacement lamps and, I gotta tell ya, these things light up the world. I'll never go back to halogens. In fact, my plan is to buy a few replacement sets to carry with me.
Just do yourself and everyone else a favor and adjust them correctly. Too many don't and it's a huge nuisance.

Thanks for the info. That is a PITA when you have a driver with one light looking right at you! (Insert random cuss words here!) :p
I've looked up the manual and proper tables on how to do it. Looks easy enough

Knew an Old Timer who carried one of those small oil cans, with the trigger on the side, if somebody gave him the high beams or a mis adjusted headlight, he’d give em a few squirts (at highway speeds) of oil, he claimed the offending vehicle dropped off like a flea!
Of course I have never tried it ;)

LED in halogen reflector housings is never a good idea, especially in Cascadia housings. The glare for oncoming traffic will be extremely intense and while your lights may appear brighter you will actually end up with complarable or even less distance light with them. The best option is projector retrofitting but obviously since you’re a company driver that’s not an option. Have you asked about getting a set of the Trucklite OEM LED lights put in? A previous company I worked for bought a used set for way way cheaper than new and put them in after I mentioned the low light output a few times.. Othewise id suggest using a PNP HID kit in your halogen housings over LED. You will see an improvement in distantance and width without increasing the glare to unbearable levels for oncoming....

Thank you. I was wondering about the difference in shrouds for the bulb. Although looking at the new Cascadia we have, the housing is the same but the shroud is not a round bulb; Instead its a straight line going up and down about 1/2 wide or so.

Of course I'm still doing research, but looking at HID kits, they have come down in price since I last saw them a couple of years ago.

You people need to learn these conversions ARE NOT LEGAL.

LED or HID lights in the wrong lighting unit will cause problems for others.

Putting them into a unit with a reflector is the biggest problem, it scatters the light all over the place and no matter what you do to aim them, they are dangerous to use.

If there is a projection type headlight, then you can use either - LED or HID - in them and it will have the right cut off for both the top and sides.

BUT even with the projection type headlight, the problem is this - the wattage of the 'bulb' you use can still blind people. So use something that is near the normal wattage of the original bulb.

Yesterday I had a truck get behind me in my pickup, and ride my *** with less than a car length between us (my distance alarm was going off). I could not see a **** thing, my mirrors and cab was lite up so bright I could read by it - it was literally daylight in the cab.

I won't detail much more than I had to turn my 300 watt LED flood light on to get him to back off so I can see.

Which is why I'm asking people who have used/are using them. It's called research. As for the legality of them, what makes them illegal and where can I find some documentation saying so?

While I appreciate and will take all comments into consideration... There is no need to start beating a dead horse. While I have absolutely no need to explain myself to you or anyone else. My lack of light while trying to drive safely is why I'm doing research on the subject. I'm not JUST looking at LED, mind you. HID systems, Xenon bulbs, "Super white" types, etc...

... and I do understand that if not properly installed/aligned they (NO MATTER WHAT TYPE) can be a bother to another driver. So I am not here to sound condescending, or rude. I am trying to find out information as to the best thing I can use within the parameters I have to work with.

My take on your comment though, will further insure that I install them properly, so as not to become the truck that I dislike to be around as well...

Thanks, and I hope you have a good weekend.
