When I went through earlier this year they didn't offer "placement" assistance. However, they do have companies calling them, Schneider was there a week or so ago, looking for drivers.
I got my Class A to help with my current job, I work in the Industry, and don't drive for a living.
As far as the reputation goes, it was a convenience and cost factor for me as I was paying out of pocket. I will say, I have seen NETTS and other school people who have come here after there to actually get their license.
You looking at the day or night class? I went to the night.

I'm looking at the night class since I'm not working. The reason I asked about the schools reputation is because looking at some of the trucking company websites they say they will only hire drivers from accredited schools. Affordable is not accredited. It is approved by the state of CT. I've been looking at some of the other schools in the state like NETTTS and Allstate. Allstate looks pretty good because it is one on one training vs NETTTS which has a class of 5 or more. Do you or anyone know anything about the NETTTS 4 wk training?? It's more affordable than the 22 wk program they have.

No. I'm starting class at Allstate Truck Driving School in Shelton, CT.
They have a 9 week class, 3 weeks in class and 6 weeks driving for
$3500. They also have a placement dept. What I did'nt like about Affordable is they teach you how to load construction equipment. I don't plan on going into construction.

    Cap12,

Call them and talk to Terry, He teaches the night classes, or Michelle, she does the days, they will help with any questions.

harleybob, the machinery stuff is just part of the course. Unless you never plan to run anything but Van trailers it could help you.
Good luck at Allstate, I've seen a few of their students old at affordable to get their license.

I almost went there for a refresher course. They have a dirt parking lot for you to practice in. Very "small time" if you know what I mean. I don't think they are an accredited school either. They are licensed through the state but I would call any company that you want to apply to first and see if they will accept this school's training.

New England Tractor Trailer Training School (NETTTS) has a short course four about half the price of the full course which is 10K and they have tuition assistance both private and state. But unless you already have a Class B license or have driven a Commercial grade vehical before I dont recommend the short course. You need the full 600 hour course. It also gets you a state level forklift and tow moter permit with the course. Average works out to be about 18-20 weeks. Three months classroom and the rest is on the field actually training with the rigs. Both class A and Class B are available as well as just weekend part time courses.

Community colleges in CT don't have CDL programs like Crowder in MO. The 160 Hr course is new and it's about 4500$. There isn't any tuition assistance or financing with this program and you have to pay up front. Affordable only has a 140 hr minimum course. Why would you need 18-20 and pay 10 grand for something that you can get in 7-8 wks for more than 1/2 the price. 600+ hrs is kinda crazy to learn how to operate a TT. Also OTR companies don't require any more than 160 hrs worth of school before you sign on to train.
