Adventure Inside a powerdrive 1500 watt inverter.

This little inverter finally gave me fits after years of service. It started making a very loud whistle. It started as a chirp on occasion and went full blown ludicrous a few months ago and the fan stopped.

I tore it open today and discovered that the main control board is back feeding through a piezo speaker making me think a diode went bad. Whatever the case I desoldered the piezo speaker and everything started working again and no safety fuses or capacitors blew. Very strange but the chinesium is fixed and working now.

 

For some reason they used automotive fuses as a fail safe except they are soldered to the main circuit board and can not be easily replaced.
