I want to add some led clearance lights to the side of my trailer. I want them as bright as possible particularly near the rear.

It is not really for looks rather I go to rural dark places and often have a hard time watching the trailer in the mirrors as I navigate around obstacles in the dark.

I was thinking of getting some of those 2"x6" oval gasket mount LED lights and getting the little metal brackets they fit it and welding them on to the trailer on the supports from the edge channel to the frame where they would be out of the way of the winch track.

Just curious what others have done or if they had any pics.

My 2000 Transcraft flatbed has 25 lights down each side, it looks good & lights up the road around me. Definitely makes it easier to watch it in turns at night.

They are mounted to the side rail, high enough that the mounting bolts & wires are above the winch tracks, drilled holes for both the mounting screws & to run the wiring through for a flush mount.

This may not be possible on your trailer, depends on the type of chain spools & rub rail you have. I'll take a better, close up pic of mine tomorrow to give you an idea of how it is setup.

Might help others make suggestions if they had a pic of yours to look at too.

I put those bee hive lights on the back corners. They stick out far enough to see when going strait down the road.

Thanks for the picture. That looks great! Looking forward to seeing the detail pics.

I will try and get a picture of mine tomorrow. We are smack dab in the middle of the Goliath snow storm I have five foot drifts in my yard right now.

Here is the only pic I have on my phone it doesn't show much detail.

We have the beehive lights on the back corners of our lowboys too. They work well to see the rear of the trailer. Of course uor axles are back there too.

If you're after real light to help see in the dark I'd put some actual work lights on the trailer. 2 in the rear bumper and one each side between the spread.
You can wire them on a separate pigtail and switch it to the cab or there is a thing you can buy that will make them come on with your blinkers or 4 ways.

I have four super bright work lights on my headache rack on a toggle switch that light up the whole trailer when loading and stuff. I am not really wanting lights on the trailer that I need to turn on and off I just want to be able to easily see it in the mirrors at night in poorly lit areas.

A setup like soloflyr's while maybe excessive would surely let the driver or anyone else see the trailer. The way the lights are mounted on mine when it is dark and I look in the rear views all I see are the front two markers.

My steddeck has a few extra 2inch rounds but the are basically behind the rubrail and yeah you really can't see them at night from the cab

That's what I was gonna say. Light that sucker up like a ball field back there when you need to make a turn.

Before you start adding lights and cutting into the wiring, Try a few of those BeeHive lights. They come in red and amber.
