Wondering if anyone knew what the process was for adding endorsements to my class a in texas. Had my cdl since 2008, but thinking of adding tanker and hazmat. Will I just have to take the 2 written tests, or will they make me redo some of the others so well? I know I will have to get prints done as well for hazmat, not worried about that.

The hazmat, you get finger printed for that. Cost money, get your TWIC card too. Can't be a criminal. No misdemeanors in the last 5 years.

You can have some offenses on your record that are not dis-qualifiers for the HazMat. If you have a clean record you will breeze through the process. Texas uses Identogo in my area to collect your finger prints and submit them to Homeland Security and FBI for your background check. The DL Office will give you their contact information so you can make an appointment with them (cost about $75.00). When the background is complete (about a week or two) you will be informed by mail to go back to the DL Office to take the written test.

HazMat is a multi-step process. Take the computer test, background check, fingerprints, fee to state, fee for fingerprints.Lonestarcoyote Thanks this.
