I want to add my hazmat endorsement to my license here in cali
If I took my motorcycle drive test a couple months ago do I have 1 year from that date to take only the hazmat test?
Or is it 1 year from the date that I took my last written endorsement test without having to take all the other written tests in addition to the hazmat test?

I have no idea of how California does it but in my state the motorcycle license has nothing to do with my CDL.
You should be able to add Haz-mat at any time.
You must first pass the TSA-Homeland Security finger printing and background check.
That usually takes at least 2 to 3 weeks to go through before you are allowed to get the Haz-mat endorsement. -
Why would your motorcycle endorsement have anything to do with trucking?

California is different I know you have 1 year from the last time you took any written test to add an endorsement without having having to take all the written tests over again including class C & motorcycle
but I dont know if when you take a driving test then it becomes 1 year from that date (the newer date) -
I guess the only way to know for sure is give them a call....Cali is always different on many laws...
I never have to take any written tests over when i renew my license.
Just go in and take the vision and signs test and i get renewed for 8 more years. -
Whenever you get your additional endorsement, it will be added to your license which will expire the same original date. They will mail you a new license. (In Ca.)

You are in the same boat as me, and in the same state. Since the M1 license is a "class" upgrade....when you applied for it, you should have had to retake your commercial paperwork since you were upgrading your license class, unless it was within 1 year of you applying for your "class" A upgrade. If you got your Commercial License less than 1 year go.....applying for your M1 would not require the retaking of your other tests.
I have my Class A with the T&N endorsements, I want to add my Hazmat & M1 to my license, and since it was less than 1 year ago that I got my CDL A, I only have to take my motorcycle class test and hazmat endorsement test, without the rest of the paperwork. -
I always thought it was stupid that with a CDL-A we can drive any vehicle up to 80,000 pounds but need a special endorsement for motorcycle....lol!
