    Hello Truckers

I got a single axle daycab. I wanted to know if it's possible to add an axle to it and haul like a tandem axle?
Also, how much roughly it could be to add an axle?

    Thanks

It’s possible, depending on the load rating of the axle, you ‘may’ be able to haul just like a twin screw.

If there’s 2 axles tag or not you can scale 34k now weather you can pull it is while different story and more than like you’re gonna hafta stretch the frame

The easiest and cheapest way would be to purchase a cut off that has the rear end ratio you want. Then a good shop can cut your frame and put the tandem axle cutoff on. New driveline and you’re good to go, assuming you’re talking about a class 8 daycab and not a medium duty rig.

I thought people in the past said the bigger problem is truck is not rated for two axles. The data sticker on side door, so if you ever got stopped and they checked the truck might no be rated for that much weight on the drive axles. Because it was built from factory with one axle

You need to have the truck recertified for the extra weight as well

Depends on the state and what states you run in. Out here where people add lift axles and stuff nobody seems to care about the truck rating. My brother’s Classic in the pic was a single axle out of Cali when he bought it and was built to a tandem. He never had any issues with it in the Midwest.

I mean, I’m sure what it really comes down to is the money so as long as you pay the reg/2290 for 80k you probably won’t have any issuers unless you get a dick of a dot officer

Not trying to bust your chops but this is incorrect, My 2016 Cascadia Expedite Straight truck came from the factory as a single axle day cab, after sleeper and box were added it was sent over to Hoosier in Indiana where the lift axle was installed and a sticker placed in door jamb stating it had been modified with the weight rating for each axle and new GVWR.
