Anyone ever have a problem with the rear air bags on a tandem tractor from using a pintle hitch mounted to the rear of the frame? Is this at all common--with air suspension?

What type of issue you having ?
-
Very common option, seen several trucks with them and air ride. No problems.
-
Don't haul a ####load on it and you should be fine.
-
I drove log trucks for 15 years and they all had air ride suspensions and pintle hitches, never a problem.
-
All my trucks have pintle hitches, 3 with air ride. No issues. Like sdaniel said, what kind of issues you having?.
-
not installed yet, just bought the rig, & eyeing it up I 'm staring at airbags 2' infront of my pintle hitch location. Compared to the end dump that came with the rig, the load is centered over tandem axles--couldn't be better. Now I want to use rig to tow my construction equipment as well via the pintle hitch I intend to install. Just concerned about the tounge weight with a loaded trailer's effect on the air suspensions in this configuration. I have a 15 ton trailer carries 13.5 ton equipment.
-
No worries. My trailer with the sprayer is just under 40,000 lbs and sometimes I haul it with 1000 gallons of water on the sprayer (another 10,000 lbs) no problem. I don't recall how much hitch weight I have loaded but it's certainly noticeable when dollying off loaded.

THANKS for the help! I certainely feel better seeing the sprayer rig. Even though mine is a shorter wheel base tractor, the weight on my tounge wouldn't seem to be a problem. Thanks again for all your responses,

Make sure you have it mounted properly and not just bolted to the last crossmember.
