how it works in my car is that i set it, to say 60 mph.

as i cruise the highway, if i gain up on someone in front of me, the radar see's that and slows me down.

so i do not believe your truck is de-rating, but just rather the radar is saying to the cruise, that you are climbing up on someones donkey.

Yeah, with our trucks the radar detects the vehicle in front of you when you’re about four seconds behind, and slows you down to stop overtaking. If you step on the accelerator, you can speed back up.

The 2020 Freightliner I'm driving has it. It's the Freightliner Driving Assistance 4.0 it actually work good. It's not the older Bendex Wingman system.

It's set to keep 4 second following distance (you can adjust to less). If someone pulls in front you, and they going same speed or faster then you it won't do anything. It will back off the power a little to try keep the distance back to 4 second. If you get close to car or trucks. First it back off the power. If that not enough it will turn on the engine brake. I have the DT-12 automatic transmission and it will downshift gears also. If that's not enough it will apply the brakes also.

The Freightliner system will show the speed of traffic in front of you. It will show the distance in feet and seconds so you can kinda see what the computers are seeing or responding too.

Sorry guys I didn’t go into detail, I have a check engine light for adaptive cruise control and I notice the truck doesn’t have power anymore. I was thinking this was causing the derating bt it’s something else waiting to hear back from dealer.

    baha Thanks this.
