    WHAT IS NEXT?

I didn't even drive through Arkansas yet they want some money?

I know its a small amount but dont we PAY ALREADY?

Just because I have the state on my app. tags gives them the right to tax me? No other state does this to me!

WILL EVERY STATE DO IT SOON? Maybe some will want much much more!

Sorry but this one preposterous. The way our government is going soon we will be taxed right out of business.

Will someone please edcuate me as to why this particular TAX is legal? I know the answer is because Arkansas MADE IT UP. I just dont feel I owe them a #### thing since I NEVER DROVE THROUGH THEIR STATE.!?!?!?!?!?!

I bet soon we will get a AD VALOREM from every state and SOME STATES will ask for a GOOD CHUNK OF CHANGE!

Kansas charges it as well. I avoid running through there if possible as they are getting IFTA-tolls & then want the ad valorem for miles traveled.

It'll boil your blood, but what is worse is that every one of these deals opens another door for a mistake & audit.

Kentucky gets a surcharge on IFTA & then a weight distance tax if you are plated for more than 59,000. New Mexico charges the weight distance if you are physically over 26,000.

Have never understood why these states don't just simplify it down to robbing it out of IFTA & moving on.

Kansas has never got me yet. New Mexico did everytime I went through. Never been through kentucky in a truck.

It does seem they would just nail us through ifta. I just have such a hard time with Arkansas becuase I had O ZERO miles in the state. I called and they they said "well your apportioned for our state!"

So does this mean EVERYBODY with tags for arkansas pays? This is just a joke!

Arkansa has never charged me Ad-Valorum, unless I've driven through Arkansas. As far as KY and IN fuel tax surcharges, both of those states do not collect their full fuel tax at the pump, only a portion of it.

Kansas sends me a annual assessment & then a bill. Usually works out to $30-$40, but burns my *** paying it.

New Mexico charges at the front door each way. But the last time through the officer told me if I register with the state the fee for crossing on I-40 would have been about $45 less than paying cash on quarterly returns. Previously when I asked about it, friends told me it was not worth messing with. So lesson learned in regards to asking those who know.

I got the kansas form in the mail a few years ago. I called them and asked them how they could charge
me property tax and not live there. They came up with this spiel, I said ok and filed ZERO miles of bussiness in kansas and done it every year since. They can try and prove otherwise if they want will cost them more than it's worth.
As long as you will bend over and open your wallet they will continue to take it.Goverenment works on the principal that most people are scared and ball-less and won't fight them, that it's easier to pay than fight and only when you run out of money is it a issue.

If you have zero miles in AR, KS, KY, NY, NM, or OR no tax will be due. You still have to FILE a tax return. The last four you don't have to file if you're not set up for with them, however you're not allowed to truck in KY and NY without being setup and having a KYU number and NYHUT number. If you fail to file a tax return, especially in AR and KS, they will put obscene amounts of fines on. KS is forgiving of ignorance. If you are plated for KS or AR, you must file a return, even for zero miles. This type of BS really makes an o/o appreciate IFTA and IRP!!!
