I read a post awhile back where someone mentioned using an Acert water pump on an e model or maybe early c15 cause they move more water. Is there any truth to this. I've never heard of that before and need to be considering a new radiator to handle the horsepower I'm putting out or if the Acert pump works and cools better that would obviously be easier faster and cheaper to swap out than a radiator. Any info on this

straight cut gears not helic cut gears (teeth are at an angle) 6nz and up are straight cut. some of the older e-models also. change the outside t-stat housing and plate for the water hose on the back of pump and possibly the neck to the oil cooler if there are clearance issues.Tmtbob Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info. Mines a 6ts e model and I need to check on the teeth. I had the front structure off around Christmas and can't remember what's on mine. What years are we talking on the Acert or do you know of a serial number for easy parts lookup. Thanks again for your help. -

I'm interested in this also. My 6NZ seems to get hot just looking at a hill. Was thinking of going to a larger rad. might try this first.

you could also get screwed on the core charge since there different
-
The flow of the pump and the capacity of the core need to match, not say you need an acert core there are several good aftermarkets offered. Or the pump won't work with current radiator till you can get a core especially if its time to change it but to get the maximum benefit they should match.

If you use DCA4 in the coolant, then I would check the cover plate for it being eaten away also if you do not have a water filter, that affects heat absorption, and dissipation as does having the proper antifreeze protection -40F, and without a water filter the impeller in the pump will wear.
99% of new trucks come with power-cool antifreeze. people change to cheap ####,
Just a thought!
