So I am COMPANY truck driver, On one of a distribution center I got a accused of hitting fence,
No cameras in that area, police was not called on a scene , and I got blamed for it almost hour later after I left a dock (was parked near by on my 30 minutes brake ) .
Manager of warehouse saying that he have 1 witness who works in that facility. (If it would be another truck driver that is one story , but the guys who also work there might say everything to keep a job)
There is no damage to truck, I pretty sure I did not hit that fence (there is different 15 trucks an hour go thought the place) .
Had to call career and explained to them my point of you , so question due that I am new driver , time for me top pack bags and leave truck career? Agree to pay for damage which I might not even did? Try to find someone who else may hire me??
(I have 0 tickets, and 0 accidents on my DMV)
Thanks for answers
Accused of hitting fence my truck career over?

I wish we could somehow prevent people that can't read and write from becoming truck drivers. That would solve a lot of these problems.

Wait and see what your company says, but no I wouldn't pull the nuclear option yet. Where I work if you do receive a preventable, you can dispute it. I doubt anything will stick with a lack of damage to tractor/trailer, or photographic evidence.

If you didn't hit the fence, you don't even consider paying for it. If you didn't do the crime, never plea bargain. Stones, son...where are your stones? I would wait to jump ship, but i would also have my next gig lined up.

Handy to have a witness isn't it. I'd hold my ground. No proof no way. IF hitting a fence is the worst thing you do you'll be fine. Get pictures of said fence and truck.

Is that why you didn't answer his questions?refreshe, Dumdriver, cerberus63 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Take cellphone photos of where the damage to your truck supposedly is.
If the corresponding damage ain't there, you have nothing to worry about.
If you did hit the fence, you have only a "preventable" on your record, and that is very common.
It will not get you fired (or prevent you from getting your next job.) -
Is there any damage to your trailer? Take pics if you haven't already of all the angles of ur tractor and tlr.
It might be considered am incident, Preventable or non Preventable depending on how much of an a hole safety wants to be but you're ok. You're new, not the end of the world even if it dings you ( I would dispute it obviously).
At my last company, I was in the ghetto , someone took a pic of my tlr and said I sides wiped their mirror. I didn't, but the company said it was cheaper to pay the claim than dispute it so they dinged me! I can still pretty much get every driving job I apply for -
If I were you, I would not move a thing, take pictures, ask if the proper authorities will be involved, get on the phone with my dispatcher and relay the situation, if authorities aren't being contacted, take note (will be in your favor), tell them and their witness to kiss my ### and see you in court in a professional manner then politely dismiss myself and get ready for the next load.
They can't prove you even thought of touching that fence with no physical or visual evidence. Don't hang yourself for them; you have a career first and carrier second to protect. CYA!
Also ... Next time get out and look when backing!! -
This is an old story, told over and over ever again.
wait and see the outcome. And in the future, if you ever deliver to a place with a fence, make an observation, THEN say to the guy on the dock, "hey who was the idiot that took down your fence"...now he knows that YOU KNOW of previous damages...Tonitos Thanks this.
