How in the world do I know if it is an accredited truck driving school? Is there a list somewhere. I can accredit a school but it won't mean anything.

Well, depends if you are looking for national accreditation or State approval. The difference will really just come down to the national accreditation allowing you to utilize FAFSA for truck school....but $10,000 for truck school...I think not.

I found a job but it requires experience I don't have or graduating from an accredited truck driving school. $10,000? I don't know where you got that number. I found two community celleges charging just over $3,000. The job I want pays me $2,000 back for school and $3,000 relocation. It is dirty and most people would hate it but it is just what I want.

Accreditation means nothing. Its a scam.

Ask the carrier that you are seeking to be employed by if the school you attend has to be accredited......they will tell you no.

Yea no kidding. That accreditation isnt worth the paper its written on let alone the money they spend to have it framed. Hed be better off finding an o/o to train him and learn how to actually drive not just hold a steering wheel and sit in a seat.

Hello - I have to agree with 1TMC1 and 379exhd, there is no "official" accreditation for truck driving schools so a school can be accredited by many different things. I have a school that is Secretary of State certified, this is considered an accreditation. There are college programs that are voted on by their college board, this can be state certification, considered an accreditation.

Find two or three companies that you would like to work for and ask their recruiter for a list of schools they hire from. Also, ask the recruiter which school, in THEIR opinion, would be a good school to attend. Recruiters know which students are trained well and which schools only get students a CDL.

Drive time, time spent behind the wheel, is an important factor in choosing a school.

    Drive safe!

I was just noting that schools who are accredited by the Department of Education often offer Federal Financial Aid. Those schools cost in range $8-10K. Not worth it.

Accreditation = Usually signifies accreditation by the Department of Education
Approval = Usually means approved by a motor carrier company or an approval from anybody really. "Approved" is really nothing at all as it can mean anything.
Licensed = Usually means licensed to operate as a vocational school in the State it resides.
