Hello, exploring my options and I decided to pay for CDL school out of my own pocket and try to get on with Gemini Motor Transport. They say they accept student drivers from accredited CDL schools, so does anyone know which schools are accredited in Ohio or Pennsylvania? I've been researching it and I keep getting conflicting answers.
And before anyone asks, yes I did contact Gemini directly multiple times via phone and email, I always get a voicemail on their phone with no response to messages and no response via email. Thanks in advance.
Accredited CDL Schools in Ohio or Pennsylvania?

For the very best, most helpful answers -- what is your current residential zip code?

The CDL you received earlier (from post #1 in the following thread) should still serve you rather well up in Ohio, with the appropriate state-to-state transfer via your nearest DMV (assuming you have moved completely to Ohio):
Do any companies in Nashville hire new drivers for home daily/line haul accounts? | TruckersReport.com Trucking Forum | #1 CDL Truck Driver Message Board (thetruckersreport.com)
Some local, home-daily gigs in the Columbus, OH area that take CDL-A holders with no previous class-A experience:
McLane -- Lockbourne, OH -- $90k+ per year -- no prev exp req'd, will train
The above has a job fair, for an in-person interview on Oct 12th -- more details in the above link (you might just walk away from that with a job!).
Building Systems Transportation -- London, OH -- no exp req'd -- will train
I offer you the above job suggestions, because....as an experienced fuel hauler....you really should get some non-hazmat tank experience elswhere, FIRST.
Mistakes with fuel hauling are simply too dangerous, too expensive -- or BOTH.
Learn to drive a big rig first, elsewhere -- then later swich over to hazmat tanker duty, if that's what you still later want.
Note also....that jobs with fuel-hauling private fleets (Love's, Pilot/Flying J, etc) are easily some of the most competitive, sought-after gigs in the whole industry.
Often -- you will be competing against other drivers who already have several years (or more) of fuel-hauling experience -- along with stellar safety records to match.

This is not my account, I'm using my friend's account and I do not have my CDL yet. Thanks for the advice, but I'm only interested in starting out with a tanker job where I am home daily.

Google for "CDL schools in Ohio" then look at the websites. The websites will show if the schools are accredited or not. Follow the search up with a visit to the school to ask more questions.
Community College cdl programs are usually the cheapest and best and accredited.Last edited: Oct 8, 2023
