How much does it cost to replace a steer abs sensor? How difficult is this? Is it something I can? Can I get this done at a petro or tire shop?

Well, prices are all over the map like most things, but getting an ABS sensor replaced is not very expensive. And shop that can plug in the ECM can do it. Not a very mechanically challenging task to change one. Each truck is different. Some, you can just change out the sensor, some have to have codes eliminated in the ECM to get everyone talking again.

It also depends on if the sensor is on steer or drive. If its on the steer it possibly can be changed with out removing tire or brake drum. If its on the drive the wheels will come off and the brake drum. If its eaton system there could be a ecm on firewall with indicator lights on it. To clear the code run a magnet down the lights and this should clear the code. If it is a meritor system you will need a scan tool to clear. If problem was a bad sensor then after new sensor is installed once vehicle reaches 10km active code will disappear and light will go out however there will still be the code kept in historic or inactive memory.

It depends on axle brand and type, disk ore drum brakes....
Sometimes it seems to u that it is easy to pull sensor from axle with disk brakes is easy, but..... someone used no anty-seiz grease ore axle is old and u have to remove hub with bearings to knock it out!
usually semsor is ok (if u do not abuse brakes and it is not melted down), but moving wires go badMartin U. Thanks this.
