I use the weight of a 5th wheel puller on the johnny bar.

Whether you use a stick between the seat and pedal or use something to hold the trolley brake down, you should try to get some real pressure on the brake system. Walk to the back, check your brake lights and listen. Any air leaking? I know all of us do a bleed down test every pre-trip(LOL) but it's a lot easier to find and fix an leak in the brake system before you hit the road.

Why not just park up against a wall or window and shine the lites then you can see the reflection right from the comfort of your trk.
allniter Thanks this. -
You make things simple and wait til dark to do your pre-trips by flash light .. then all you'd have to do to check brake lights is step on pedal and look in the mirrors.. then call road service for any bulb replacements or ground problems..pattyj Thanks this. -
I'm so fast that before the Johnson bar releases, I've already checked the brake lights and filled out the log book

I though that was why you carried a dog, he pushes the brake and flips the lights.
How do you measure slack adjuster travel by your self? -
Push your brake pedal to the floor, open your door, jump out and run like heck to the rear of the trailer
pattyj, allniter and KiLLaZiLLa93 Thank this.
