Well I ended up not going to Raven last year but I am going to be in orientation this Tuesday. The starting pay is .425 a mile. That's better than most companies out there.

Leftnut, We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
Leftnut Thanks this. -
Jaybird365 do you know how orientation goes at Raven?
-
My buddy went through their orientation not too long ago and if Jaybird is who my buddy thinks he is, jaybird can tell you all the lies you need to know about orientation and everything else associated with that company. Jaybird works in the office, and scavenges loads (drives) from time to time. The "365" in his username is the truck number that POS drives.
According to my friend, you will not see his picture on the "Wall of Shame" but most of the time, you will find him sitting at his desk in the driver's lounge listening in on driver's conversations and reporting his discoveries to higher-ups. -
Leftnut, You will have a single room at the Quality Inn just up the street from the Raven Terminal. They have a full buffet breakfast every morning for are new Drivers. It will be 2.5 days off training from all our departments, including Safety/Hazmat and ELog training. We provide lunch all while your in class. You will do a road test as we'll on Tuesday morning. In regards to your PM. You should expect to average between 2100-2300 miles per week. Some weeks will be better, some worse just depends. Are equipment is top notch. 2012 Volvo 670's and 2013-2014 International Prostar's. All trucks have APU's and fride/freezer, including a 1800 watt power inverter. We have 975 brand new trailers coming in as we speak. 10-14 out will get you 48 hours home time, 15-21 days out equals 72 hours off. Good people, but remember like any company it's all about your attitude, effort, and what you made of it. Best wishes, Jason "Jaybird" Ebert, Raven Transport, Professional Driver and Fleet Services Associate.

I believe this Jaybird70 is an office worker/driver for Raven,I went thru orientation and didn't like there system very much. They give you a fuel card with $100 on it,you use this to pay for tolls and scale tickets. They will not reimburse for scaled loads under 42,000 lbs, takes 3 weeks for their payroll dept. to set up your direct deposit, they mail a paycheck to your house for three weeks. You get $400 of your $1000 sign on bonus mailed to your house, they won't load on your fuel card and 90 days until you get the rest. So if your short on cash you better hope your wife puts that money in the bank, if not your in trouble. They run beer,P&G and coffee and very little hazmat loads. They force you to have get a hazmat endorsement which you have to eat the cost of getting. You get a fuel chart to decide where you need to fuel, you can only get 50 gals at the T/A's on the list and can't buy DEF at any T/A.Pilot/Flyin J's are the only ones you can fill up at.Their main running area is around 14 states on the east coast so miles are in question. When I passed the Orientation I was told the Tractor I was getting was at the Dealership being repaired and that was enough for me to walk away from this outfit.

Here's more info about Raven,They're in the process of replacing all their trailers with Hyundai composite trailers. These trailers are lighter and can handle max loads of 49,000 lbs, yes I said 49,000 lbs. They have a lot of Prostars in the fleet with the MaxxForce motor and with that weight your gonna have fun in the mountains.Their tractors are turned down to 63 mph,Mr.Silverman says he's saving $80 grand a year by slowing you down.As for Orientation they do put on a good show. The Safety instructor is top notch and knows what he's talking about. The rider policy is ok if you can get a double bunk, only family can ride.If your wife goes be ready to supply a copy of your marriage license and your last years 1040 form. That's a lot of personnel info if you ask me,to be honest with you drivers Raven is better then most companies.I just didn't care for their system and if your a seasoned driver and read my other post then you might agree with me.Good Luck Drivers and be SAFE

This company will promise you the world then not stand behind what they tell you. They try to make you run overweight. The milage on the loads they pay is usually around 20 percent lower than the actual miles. Most drivers actually average around 2000 miles a week in reality. Or at least that is what they are paid for when they actually run around 2300 but don't get paid for them all.
I will give them the fact that they have decent equipment and their dental insurance is decent. Oh I almost forgot their dispatch staff is sorely lacking in people skills but really good at scratching each others backs usually resulting in the driver being the one with short stick. They are not a drivers company no matter what they tell you. I could go on all day about Raven as I am a former employee. Don't let them lie to you too.
