Anyone that scams the elderly are lower than low. Where do these people come from?
Then again I had a 74 year old woman scam me out of a $1500 downpayment, selling me property she didn't own. She's on SSI and doesn't own anything. So suing would be a waste of time. Who would of thought?
Where do they come from? Often their own loins... elderly abuse (including financial) by children and grandchildren is far more wide-spread than most people realize.
As for the woman in the story, although she says she was afraid, and I don't doubt there was some element of that, I suspect it was greed, or desperation that influenced her lack of thought.
Get money to pay the taxes on a bag of money? Really? That's a new take on the Nigerian 419 scam.
And $4,000 in "life savings"? Scary, but also extremely common.
