I've been to just about every gas station in this town including the big 4 truck stops. I figured I could help a fellow trucker out by posting my local secrets here. Got some for your hometown? Please post.
Stamart on I29 exit 66
This place has a big parking lot, 100 spots according to Trucker path app. Carton of marbs will run you about $50. Stamarts pride themselves on the amount of random crap they sell. Want a lazer pointer that says **** OFF? They have it. I had my truck washed there with rainx option, $84. Next to the truck wash is a gun range, a really good one. You can bring in your own guns and ammo and blast away for a small fee, or if you have to much cash in your pocket, you can rent a huge selection of weaponry. .22 pistols to fully automatic AK47's to the .50 BMG. Hell of a way to spend a 34. I ate at the Marlin's resturant once, that was enough of that. Across the interstate to the west you will find easy parking for semis north of Arbys, just loop through microtels lot. Pleasure palace on the south side of Arbys. Petroserve has a 4 for $4 deal. Hotstuff pizza, pop or coffee and 2 cookies $4 ( you must take the cookies otherwise you will get charged full price for pop and pizza). Free coffee for life if you buy a mug for $5-$14.
Petro Fargo i94 exit 348
195 spots for parking. Haven't spent much time here, but the breakfast sandwhiches taste like mom made them. I hear to try the buffalo burger or whiskey steak. To the north is a stripmall with more things than I care to list. HuHot is a mongolian grill, you dish it they cook it, tastes like crap? Your fault start over. All you can eat for about $15 depending on what time you go there. Verizon store, self explanitory. Men's Hair World is a little gem. Haircut $13 includes shampooing, classic straight beard shave $4, and free beer before and during your haircut, tvs next to the mirrors usually with a football game on. A bit farther north (2 blocks I think) you will find Scheels Allsports, Fargo's answer to Cabela's. That place has everything sports/hunting related. Even try out a set of clubs before you buy them. Take a ride on the indoor ferris wheel if you want.
Loves (south side) and Flying J (north side) i94 exit 62.
278 parking spots between the 2. I'm combining them because this article is getting long and they are close to each other. I just took a shower at Love's, splendid. Nothing like a scalding hot shower when its -30 outside. After you've been outside for 37 seconds your towel is now hard enough to be used as a snowboard, just grab onto a truckers bumper and ski your way back to your truck. People complain about the ice and snow buildup at the pumps, knock the dust off your diff lock switch and your golden. Next to Flying J there is a popular bar called the Windbreak. They usually have a live local band. Blackjack and pool tables. This being a college town, you will have an 8 out of 10 chance of hooking up depending on your swagger (Odds double if NDSU wins, triples if they loose) North of Flying J is Thunder Road which has mini golf, bumper cars, arcade and go carts. Which is completely shut down in the winters. Is there a better way to spend a 34 by releasing truckers rage on 6th graders and soccer moms in go-carts? I think not.
Theres another truck stop in West Fargo. I'm not even going to tell you where it is because its that bad. The food tastes just like how the bathroom smells.
Hope this helps your travels. Maybe I'll see you here, I'm the idiot typing away at 3am.
P.S. You will get good sleep in Fargo because all of the lizards that dared to crawl out from their rocks are currently being treated for frost bite. Also no cop is going to risk hypothermia for inspections, his pen probably wont work either.
