I'm at the Hook in Davenport, IA, where there is only a Denny's along with the usual array of deli choices. I really hesitated this morning, even considering walking across the overpass to the McD's at the BP, but it was just too windy and cool for me. But I've got zippo in the truck, and breakfast is my meal of choice during the day. Besides, I don't deliver until 2pm, so I had time to grab a paper, watch some news, and generally have a leisurely morning...a nice change of pace once in a while.
I went in, and was greeted promptly and with a smiling face. I ordered the 3-cheese and veggie omelet with hash browns (light), toast and coffee. The order came, and I got a shock.
Veggies overflowing and just-a-flooding that side of the plate. A generous helping of hash browns cooked just the way I asked for them. My coffee was always filled before it was empty (and I tend to drink it pretty quickly, especially those little cups). I was truly pleased, and let the ladies know it both verbally and tippingly.
The place was clean, the ladies were all busting it, and although it's still a bit pricey, at least this time I got decent value for the buck.
Kudos to Denny's at exit 292, I-80, Davenport, IA.
A GOOD Denny's experience!

I have eaten at 3 or 4 of these brand new Flying Pilot Deny's and so far I have had very good food. I cant always say that about the old Flying J resturants. The Flying J in Beaverdam, OH I-75 exit 135 used to have good food, but has gone down hill for the last 2 or three years. Now they are Denny's but they kept the same former manager of the old resturant, so the jury is still out on that one...

dennys is not in the least pricey. they have many items far less than most others. their 2,4,6,8 dollar special menu is good , my usual breakfast the the 2 buck biscuit and grvy with hashbrowns, and coffee 4 bucks total , do that at a ta.

I've had three good Denny's experiences at FlyingJ. The first two were in Alabama, the other up in Canada (Napanee, ON I think). At one of the Alabama locations I made sure to tell the restaurant manager about my good experience.

Denny's in Tulsa,Ok. pissed me off and can kiss my ###..nevermind,i already told them that(Loudly)as i was leaving.

You can have a decent meal with the $2-$4-$6-$8 menu and not spend a fortune. The service has been pretty good recently, when they were just getting started in the Flying Js sometimes the service was a little shaky. Probably learning a whole new system. Overall usually pretty good experience.

For the most part--Denny's exists so there is always somewhere to go after LAST CALL!
But--they do have good coffee and IMHO--as long as the coffee is good in the AM--it ain't all bad--LOL -
Russellville, AR Denny's at the hook ain't bad.
Mt. Vernon, IL Denny's at the Peelot is not bad either.
