I purchased a 95 freightliner fld120 a few weeks ago. Found the fuse box location and removed the panel. I am struggling to find what type of fuse is used and where to buy them. Someone told me it's a bolt on fuse? I've never heard of it. I have attached a picture of the fuse box. Screenshot_20231229_054400.jpg

Those are breakers. I forget what they are called, but Napa, orielly’s and most truck parts stores will have them.
@Rideandrepair @jamespmack may know the name of them.

The fuses are in the middle. Pop that long plastic cover, you’ll see them. They’re all hooked to a bussbar, similar to a house fuse panel. The square ones are breakers as mentioned. Same stuff used in most Trucks. The problem I’ve had are few. The labels are usually all faded out. Can make it hard to find a bad one. Just have to hunt it down with a test light. The 4 way flasher is usually located in the lower left corner, and is hard to get out. My 99 went bad. It was an expensive “Heavy duty” flasher. whatever that means. I think it had 3 prongs. I used a pigtail and a standard 2 prong flasher on advice of a mechanic. Left it laying in there for easy access. It worked fine. That’s all I know. Never had a fuse or breaker go bad.

Get the breakers from Freightliner. Napa RAPES you for them.

Here is an old post that identifies them if the labels are bad/missing.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

Second question - Has anyone ever converted the buss bar over to today's blade type fuse? I attached a picture of an example.

Our little FL60’s had the same setup and in 25 years and over a million miles the only thing in the box I had to replace was the flasher and the hvac relay. They'd last about 3 years. Used to pull the fuel system fuse that Cat required out of it when left parked in a sketchy place as an anti theft device.

Why would you? No, never have and never seen it done. I wouldn't, personally

I didn't realize the original setup was so reliable so I'm not going to do it.
