I need to replace my outside door handle, I took off the interior panel and it looks like the factory handle was huck bolted in. The other side of the bolt is painted the color of the truck and I wanted to keep it that way is there any way of taking the huck off and installing a regular nut or am I stuck trying to cut it off then installing a carriage bolt? What is the best way to cut a huck bolt off? Thanks for any help

You're stuck as far as I know. Air operating cut off tools work well then carriage bolts and paint

Stainless Allen bolts are what i see people using. Did the paddle break free from the pivot shaft?
-
Yes thats exactly what happened. Thanks for all the help looks like I'll go with stainless hardware and then find some close matching spray paint to paint the bolt heads

Mine started breaking free at the bottom. Before it broke completely free we carefully drilled through the paddle and into the shaft with a small drill. We then put a stainless machine screw into the shaft. That fastened the paddle back to the shaft. Its been 5 years or so now and 99 percent of people never notice the pan head screw in the paddle.

Tug Toy Thanks this.

Glad it worked for you. Easier to do than explain lol. Even if it doesn't last as long as mine has you're only out a bit of time.
