I'm probably covering old ground, but I did a search and found nothing.
I see a lot of talk about different turbos for the 6NZ, PDI, Bully Dog, Michigan turbo, etc. I also understand Borg Warner has a non waste gated turbo for this engine. I've got the Bully Dog manifold on my engine now with the stock Cat turbo. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Like everyone else I'm looking for performance and mileage.

I would suggest going with Bully Dogs turbo. It is built by them and from talking with them its basicly an upgraded version of the BW, the BW has a problem of cracking and doesn't flow as many CFM. Also if there is a problem they are the ones that deal with it directly. ther is no middleman when it comes to warranty.

PDI, Bully Dog, and the performance BorgWarner non-wastegated turbos being discussed are the same turbo. BorgWarner doesn't sell this turbo as a complete assembled turbocharger. You must buy the correct parts from a BW dealer and assemble it yourself.

Michigan Turbo's Stage 1 turbo is a BorgWarner 198123 this is an old design. It's very sluggish to respond compared to the other performance turbos sold by others and myself, but it's much cheaper in price also. You won't like it.

The comment about the exhaust turbine housings cracking was actually a BorgWarner production problem that was fixed a year or more ago. They were machining to much of the raw casting in one area making it too thin.........this made it crack. Some of the sellers listed above changed to a different part number turbine housing until the manufacturing problem at BorgWarner was fixed. Now you can use either exhaust turbine housing, depending on availablity and pricing.

The components to build these turbos can be hard to get at times depending on BW's production schedule and consumer demand at the moment. If you're interested in a turbo, PM me

    pdi Uses a Borg-Warner Turbo.

Bully Dog along with Full Tilt Performance manufactor and build their own turbo, not a BW part in it.

That's funny, when you look at each of the websites of Bully Dog and Full Tilt, the turbocharger pictured has a compressor cover with a BW casting number on it. :biggrin_2554:

Not saying your wrong or anything but how do you know that bully dog uses that exact turbo? Normally companies like bully dog won't give out any info on their stuff.

So you've actually had a bully dog turbo first hand to compare it to? Or maybe you know someone that works for bully dog?

Yes, I have no idea of what I speak of

    I love it.................sales hype

Rick Plauman is the best at selling sales hype

There are a few others I'd list as having the same abilities as that gentleman. As a salesman you create the illusion of having what everybody needs to have. The salesman creates the illusion that you can only satisfy that need with his exclusive part...........keep believing that and you'll make him rich.........tell all your friends how satisfied you are after the purchase of such an exclusive part and you'll make him richer

Why do you think everybody removes the part numbers?

    IT'S a SECRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
