I would find another shop with competent techs that will diagnose the problem instead of throwing parts at it, and giving up when they cant find any codes. If it's a fleet shop, well, you're kind of stuck. If you're mechanically inclined, you can check the EGR delta P ports and tubes for plugging. That's a common issue that can cause odd performance problems without logging faults. The 5 to 15 miles sounds like the problem is happening once it gets up to temp? That might be a clue also. Those engines will derate without a CEL if the air/coolant/egr temps get too high, but they're supposed to log an informational fault in the ecm.

 

More than likely a vpod air pressure my 14liter was a beast after it was deleted

 

I have the same exact issue right now
But mine gives a check engine light and it cuts turbo boost in half
Although I just put new turbo
I also smell something odd like hot fumes maby Egr fumes
I’m not losing any coolant
Problem seem to happen at high speeds /high temp !
I’m going to delete it will let you know if that

Hello driver, after reading your article I was wondering if I could be having that issue as well because for some reason check engine light was on before I had this guy go into the ecm and he said that he deactivated the turbo speed sensor and the check engine light went away,,however it did run much better than it did however here lately it is snapping my head back when the turbo kicks in, but then it starts to lose all the power just like that. So I built the truck from nothing but I never put new wire harnesses on it..so should I go ahead and change them out first before spending time and money on major parts that I may not need?
