I’ll be posting more about myself and my intent in other topics, but the CDL is where it all begins. I’m researching schools, and cost is not my issue. My concern is with timeframe, convenience, and actually learning how to operate a truck.
When I read reviews for most schools, the common complaint is with students receiving almost no actual time behind the wheel, and with the schools having high failure rates on the CDL exam. I’ve seen these statements for even schools approved by large trucking companies.
I located a small CDL school — and by school I mean a one man operation — that has outstanding reviews. All students come in on Monday and take their CDL exam on Friday. They pass, and if you don’t, the teacher will give you more training for FREE, and you retake the exam. After digging into it, it seems that the local DMV knows the teacher and says his students always perform well.
Okay, long backstory established. Enjoyed the read? What I’m really asking is, will companies deal with you if your training didn’t come from one of their recognized schools?

Thank you for your response. I haven’t taken any courses yet. I wanted to see if his class would make sense, but now I’m starting to think it’s not worth the risk.
Also, I don’t think I’d work for Western. Quick research revealed things I didn’t like. -
Where is your location? There's some decent companies with their own cdl training. Don't trust all the negative comments from people about companies. Some people have a difficult time making big changes in their life and lash out by blaming others.
BunBaoPho88, Milr72 and tscottme Thank this. -
