I've been in the CB hobby for a while and I know quite a bit about radios. But here's my question: My dad is getting ready to go back on the road and he's in the market in a antenna for his truck. He told me to find him a good antenna for a good price since I'm more aware about CB's. I've never ran either antenna so I don't know the results. Anyone out there ran both of these antennas? Difference?

I own and use both. I honestly can't tell any difference. I might have to give the nod to the 2000 if you drop down to the 4.5ft Francis however.

I have always been partial to steel whips.....The 5ft Francis does a good job but i think on my radio the Wilson 2000 has a tad better receive...
Of course that is on my setup so it will vary with different trucks, radios and installs. I have never been a big fan of fiberglass.....lol.
I have at least 10 different antennas in my stock pile and the Wilson 2k,Wilson 5k and Monkey Made MM-9 Medium are my top three.

Francis 5.5. Simple pre tuned antenna about 22 bucks set it and forget it.

i use to say the same thing about francis, but here as of late since they got bought out by barjan or whoever, the quality is not what it use to be. I have had 2 in a row the fiberglass separated from the stud, they are not gluing them together the way they use to. so I would say Wilson, but depending on where you are in west TN, make a run to rays electronics in west Memphis and pick up a skip shooter, great antenna, tunable fiberglass and each 1 is handmade in Southaven MS. about $30 for a 5ft skip shooter at rays. I have ran several diff length skip's and never had a problem, got 1 now I have been running for 10+ years and never missed a lick. just my .005

I'm currently running a 5ft Skipshooter I bought at Ray's with good results as well. (they look like they have a nail sticking in the tip of the antenna)

I always heard that the skipshooter's are some good antenna's, but never had one. I use a Wilson 2000 and it's been good to me. I think Chuck's at the 126 off I40 at least used to sell the skip shooter.

That's where I'm buying from is Chuck's. I've always went to him. But just trying to figure out which to go with.

if you buy a fiberglass whip, carry a spare. they snap way too easy.

I have heard and have had good luck with the K-40 "Trucker" . K-40 has been around a LONG time so they must be doing something right. And if you get near a Pilot truck stop I think they're on sale this month for $30. The K-40 in my opinion has a sturdier whip than the Wilson's. And I think the wattage capabilities are higher. I was also impressed with the K-40's garrantee
