Ive been truck shopping and one of the trucks Ive found has 445/50R22.5 super singles on it. I pull a 7 car high mount short neck trailer. I have to put the 5th wheel all the way back over the rear axle. Im scared of one of the tires blowing on the rear axle so I was thinking of leaving the SS on the front axle and replacing the rear with duals. Are the 295/75R22.5 tires the same height as the 445/50R22.5 tires?

unless you have a 6x2 configuration, you want to have all drives the same. The front and rear axle should turn at the same speed or you will constantly be making your power divider work and heat up. Even unloacked, power goes to all wheels and constanly having it not devided even will cause problems

If you want duals, you can probably find someone to swap with. A fair number of us like the singles.

I would love to keep them and find some duals that are the same height just for the rear axle. Im thinking having the 5th wheel directly over the rear axle if one of the rear ones blew with all the weight over the rear of the frame there could be some seroius damage. Am I being over paranoid?

OP, 445 and 295 are the same height, you'll be fine. Heck when one axle has fresh tires and the other has 8/32, that's a 3/4" difference in tire size for a lot of tires. You won't be able to rotate, so I would go all the same for that reason alone.

Unless this is an independent spring suspension, both rear drive axles will have the same load on them. With an air ride the same amount of pressure goes in all 4 bags.
