The only place I know that want's it at 41 is California. No matter where you go the weight should be 12000, 34000, 34000. Don't go over 80. I never had a problem anywhere as long as the weight was right. I don't understand why your asking this question.

In the past I've had DOT measure from my kingpin to rear trl axle to make sure I wasn't more than 41 ft. He said I was over by like an inch or two but let me slide, and ths happened in florida where DOT isn't as strict as some states. Also I'm pretty sure cali is 40 ft.

With that paper load. Be warned, the reciever may expect you to slide your tandems to the rear at the dock. This is to keep undo wear on truck as well as when the forklift exits with the load that the tandems will hold the trailer at dock height.

Georgia has the 41 foot rule in effect as well, if I'm not mistaken. Our garage marks all our 53's with white paint on the pins and DOT red tape on the side of the trailer as we get new ones, or as they come in due for a PM.

    a bit late but.....

on a wabash, TN rule is 9th hole. You'll be a bit long.

CA was 6th hole, I thinkn TN and MN were 9th hole, 12th was UT, IL, and MO, most of the rest were 13th. They screwed you. Sorry the guys on the dock at those paper plants don't really know their product as well as they should.

I think the OP was counting from the back.

But you did rattle the cobwebs loose! Pin in the 6th was CA legal on Wabash.

florida has a tandem weight of 44K, so follow the bridge law there.

georgia, tandem weights are more important..........

I received a $600 ticket from Maryland one time for being two holes too far back... The company paid it fortunately..

The easiest way is pinning open the trailer door like the other driver said. If it's a 53 foot trailer, when you lock the trailer door in the open position the mud flap should be about a foot or so in front of the edge of the trailer door nearest the front of the trailer.

If the trailer door isn't open you can use the device on the side of the trailer that holds the trailer door in the open position. That is about where the front edge of the open door would be.

I find counting what hole the tandems are locked into isn't reliable because people aren't consistent with where they start counting from.

CA is actually 40' and so is FL, but in FL you can have 44000 on you tandem. TN has to be 41 and I believe GA as well and in MI you have to be between 37' and 41'.
