Hey guys, new here.. I have done my research but am looking for a little more information. I have a 98 379 with low air leaf suspension. My ride height was set at 6.5" from bottom of frame to center of axle. Rear sagged a bit before especially when loaded and was pretty bouncy. I raised it to 8.5" which is what i have found others are saying, is this right? Seems a bit stiff but also seems to ride better at highway speeds. i have 22.5s on it and top of tire is about 1-2" higher then top of frame. Is there another measurment I can use when setting ride height? Sorry for the long post, any information is greatly appreciated.

Yes. According to a Peterbilt field service bulletin I read Low Air Leaf before 4/5/04 is 8.5" single and tandem. After 4/5/04 is 6.5" single axle and 8.5" tandem.

Excellent, thank you

You also need to make the measurement in the right spot.http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p172/moonshine_steel/Car Carriers/ride_height.jpg

I had a 98 pete 379 and a 2003 .Low air leaf.
I measured from underside of the frame to the outer edge of the cup on the bottom of the airbag.
I set the distance at 15.5"
If you then drive it and you hear noise in the transmission., increase the level a bit.
Through trial and error, I arrived at this level. Then a pete dealer shop foreman told me this is where they set them.
I still have the '03. 1.1 million miles. Original u-joints and transmission.
Also. Set the cab/sleeper ride height at 7.3 " from the surface of lower platform to under side of upper surface.
And keep good shocks on it. -
Thanks Lone Ranger, Im gonna check that measurment and see how they compare.

We always measure from the center of the end of the axle to the ground and add 8.75 and measure in front of rear axle from ground to bottom of frame. that was from peterbilt for our vin. If you don't get it right it's bad on your drive line.

I set ride height to 8.5", got a bad vibration. I lowered it to 8", the vibration got better but is still there.. When set at 6.5" it had no vibration, is it possible this thing is low low air leaf? How do i identify? The hanger says low air leaf and the bag is mounted under the frame.
