getting ready to replace my exhaust manifold gaskets, studs n spacers on my 3406b, i onow they were all last done at a cat shop about 5-6 years ago but sure dont look like it ! looks original lol! any tips or tricks doing this job before i try and tackle it myself? thanks

Soak with PB for several days before starting. Have a torch handy, and if something feels like it's gonna break, heat it. Anti seize on stud threads in head.

Get an air hammer and a box end wrench and a welding glove. Put the box end wrench on the nut. Use the welding glove on that hand (self explanatory but you never know) put the air hammer on end of stud slow steady pressure increasing as you go while vibrating the piss out of. I have seen the eat over half in two from years of pressure and time and still come out.
The goal is to get the stud out of the head not the nut off the stud. Use the nut to bring stud spacer and all out.God prefers Diesels, AModelCat, BigCam9670 and 8 others Thank this. -
ok great thanks , bin long day but had to laugh when instructed to wear the welding glove on proper hand,gonna give er a go see what happens!
